Through-coloured cladding panels
A £4.5m extension at Rye Oak School in London has used cladding from Marley Eternit’s Natura range to create a high performance rear ventilated cladding system. The thermal efficiency of the system contributed towards the BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’. The ivory, through-coloured panels were selected for their durable rainscreen qualities and aesthetic and contemporary appearance.

Timber cladding for primary project
The A Proctor Group has supplied 368 sqm of its Royale timber cladding in Golden colour for the redevelopment of the infants block at Charnwood Primary School in Lichfield, which has provided additional classrooms. The cladding weathers well and is easy to maintain, with a 30- year warranty against rot/wood decay. The Osmose treatment used for Royale increases water resistance and stability.

Ceiling tiles for Sunderland BSF
Knauf AMF Ceilings have been specified as part of Sunderland’s BSF, which is delivering three new academies and three schools. The Castle View Enterprise Academy features fine Stratos micro perforated ceiling tiles in classrooms to give fire resistance and acoustic performance along with Thermatex Alpha and, in areas requiring a greater level of sound attenuation, Thermatex Acoustic dB41 tiles.

Sand-filled sports surface
Sydney Smith School in Hull has replaced its existing 1,960 sqm surface with a modern, multi- use sand filled sports surface. The school wanted a commercial entity for hiring out the field. Therefore, Playrite Tufted Champion PP was chosen and placed over Playrite Matchpad underlay to give it both impact absorbing and bounce modifying.

High impact acoustic panel
SuperPhon Hi-Impact, the highly absorbent acoustic panel system from CMS Acoustic Solutions, has been installed at the new North Liverpool Academy, helping it to achieve BB93 compliance. The panels comprise sound absorbent, non-combustible glass fibreboard with a front panel of thermally-bonded polyester acoustic fibre and a tough, high-density polyester backing.

Rainscreen panels and antislip flooring
Rainscreen cladding panels and antislip flooring from Steni UK have been used by GML Construction on a large modular project at the University of Sussex for reasons ranging from sustainability and low maintenance to aesthetics and durability. Included is 1,000 sqm of Stoneflex Class 0 fire rated reinforced polyester resin cladding panels, which are built up to provide a surface finish of natural stone.
