Reducing the load on main sewers

The new Stanbridge Building at Banbury School has used two monocast drainage systems from ACO Technologies that are manufactured from a recycled material, Vienite. The systems, ACO KerbDrain and ACO ParkDrain, form a drainage network that quickly removes surface water from new areas of hardstanding to a series of soakaways that recharge local groundwater and reduce flood risk.

Electronic Assistive Technology company, Possum, has launched a Building Projects Division to increase awareness of inclusive design for disabled and elderly individuals. Electronic devices can work together to enable users to control their environment by operating equipment such as doors, windows, curtains, telephone, lights, TV, DVD and alarms through an easy to use wire free controller.

Creating a heavy-duty subfloor

F Ball and Co’s subfloor preparation products

and flooring adhesives have been used in the overhaul of a 260 sqm school hall floor at Winns Primary School in London. A combination of Stopgap 600 deep section base compound and Stopgap 300 HD heavy-duty smoothing underlayment was used to create a durable surface. Styccobond F41 carpet tile tackifier was then used to secure the carpet tiles in position.

A more comfortable pool experience

The installation of Hanovia’s UV system at the Norwood swim school in Adelaide is helping to provide a pleasant environment for customers – both in the water and in the pool surrounds. Chloramines, which had previously been up around 1.5 parts per million (ppm), are now routinely in the range of 0.3 – 0.7 ppm according to the operator. The UV disinfection system was supplied by Fluidquip Australia.

Specifying cedar shingles

John Brash has released ‘A Guide to Specification and supply’, a new 28-page brochure dedicated to Cedar Shingles and Shakes. John Brash Cedar Shingles can be used for vertical cladding and on roofs with pitches as low as 14º. The natural attributes of Cedar include an even grain, good strength to weight ratio and low expansion and contraction. They are lightweight and weather to a silvery-grey colour.
