his relationship with light. Other names that seduce and charm me are Joyce Tenneson, Chadwick Tyler and Tim Walker – all ofwhomhave a great sense of humour, alongside a maturity and solid methodology that I really respect. Closer to home I admire people I have learnt from, includingmy father andmy boyfriend Lee, who always helps me to look at things differently.

LB: And your favourite piece of

lighting equipment?

IH:Well I ama big fan of the sun, but of course that’s a rarity in Manchester. Luckily I have access to Bowens’ continuous daylight systems (Studiolite, Trilite and Unilite) which I use all the time. I prefer continuous light and tend to mix light temperatures to give me ultimate freedom when processing. The studio also has Gemini heads and they have been absolutely essential in my learning curve. Last year I just hibernated in the studio and worked very hard until I became confident about my lighting techniques. Now I don’t have to worry aboutmy images. I think that lighting is very simple once you take a deep breath and trust yourself.

LB: What’s your fantasy shoot if money is no object?

IH: I wouldn’t turn down a shoot with ‘Future Faces’ models at Premier and I wouldn’t argue if the client sent me to
