LB: Your most memorable projects
to date?
IH: I will never forget the time I assisted photographer Andrew Farrington on a shoot that involved a yard full of cherry pickers and twelve metres of false hair. I had to light the model’s face, forty feet off the ground in a scissor lift. My favourite projects will always be those that allow me to work with good people, alongside a working brief that gives me the creative freedom I crave. Recently I’ve enjoyed working with freelance set/props designers and art directors to develop editorial submissions for magazines. This is definitely more ‘play time’ than ‘work time’ for me.

ambitions as a photographer?
IH: I don’t give a damn about being rich and famous. I just want to earn a comfortable living working in an industry I love. I want to work with people I can call friends as much as colleagues – and the occasional free dress or ticket to a gig wouldn’t go amiss. As I adore greatmagazine imagery I’d love to be in a position to create some of my own – but I think the industry probably doesn’t relish my aversion to airbrushing right now.
