Traditional Peghead Shape The Deering peghead shape is both traditional in appearance and designed by Greg Deering. Deering customers asked for this design on the Goodtime banjos and Deering made it possible.

Why a GOODTIME Banjo? Only the Goodtime banjo offers this combination of features
d High Sheen Satin Finish
Like the very finest guitars and violins which have light, thin finishes that do not stifle the musical vibrations, Deering uses a high sheen satin urethane based finish for wood grain enhancement and protection of the sensitive tone woods in the Goodtime banjo.
3-Ply Maple Rim
The maple in the Goodtime rim is the exact wood used in the finest violins in the world. For several hundred years this wood has been exported from America to Europe to some of the greatest violin makers in history because of its tonal excellence. Only Deering puts this professional grade 3-ply rim in a banjo in this price range.
Nickel Plated Finish Nickel plating is THE most traditional and popular finish for banjos. Its warm silver glow, is pleasing to look at and preferred by most top players. Some believe it “sounds” better than other finishes.
Single “Quiet” Coordinator Rod
The Goodtime banjo coordinator rod is made of a special alloy that is strong and does not interfere with the singing resonance of the violin maple rim. Traditional brass coordinator rods ring and vibrate and muddy the sound of a banjo with very annoying sympathetic vibrations.
6 Year Warranty
The superb craftsmanship and world class materials in the Goodtime banjo enable Deering to warrantee this beautiful banjo for 6 years. (See warranty card for details)
Made in the U.S.A
Each and every Goodtime banjo is made from scratch right here in our Spring Valley, California facility. We don’t buy parts and merely assemble banjos, we MANUFACTURE our own parts and design and build each and every Goodtime banjo. Period!

Quality Geared
Tuning Machines Five high quality geared tuning machines make tuning the Goodtime banjo easy, accurate and fun. Too many student banjos are cursed with poor quality tuners, so the students blame themselves for an out of tune banjo when it’s the tuner that is at fault.
Rock Maple Neck This fine grained, dense, extremely hard, wood creates a stable neck, and imparts a bright, crisp quality to the Goodtime banjo tone.
Hardwood Inlays Usually found only on high end guitars, the intricate, delicate fingerboard inlays are meticulously inlaid and made from various hardwoods. Only Deering’s master level banjo making skills can produce this level of craftsmanship on such a low priced banjo.
Ergonomic Neck Shape Deering has mastered the art of making a neck comfortable for small, medium and large hands. The Goodtime neck fits everyone, by design, not by accident.
Stability Enhancing J-hooks The proprietary Deering J-hooks are wider at the top to prevent twisting off the tension hoop when tightening the banjo head. Designed and manufactured by Deering, only Goodtime and Deering banjos have these superior, strong, steel j-hooks to enhance the ease of maintenance.
Maple and Ebony 5/8” Bridge Virtually all of the top banjos in the world use a 5/8” tall, maple and ebony bridge. The responsive sensitivity of the maple, with the hard dense ebony top contributes to the Goodtime banjos clear, resonant responsiveness.
“Quiet” Tailpiece Specially selected metal is used
exclusively in the Goodtime tailpiece to prevent the tailpiece from making “its own sound” and “muddying up” the banjo’s tone. The violin maple rim is supposed to sing, not your tailpiece. The strength and rigidity of the easy to adjust Goodtime tailpiece, keeps your Goodtime banjo sounding the way you want it, without twisting, bending or over-flexing.

Standard 11” High Crown Head
This is the most common, standard head size in the world. Used by virtually all top banjo makers, this means more availability, choices and convenience for you when replacing the head. Many import banjos have bizarre, odd sizes and heads which are VERY difficult to find when replacing. Heads are perishable, and do need to be replaced from time to time. With a Goodtime, you can experiment with clear heads, black shiny heads, fiberskyn heads, renaissance heads, Kevlar heads, bottom frosted heads, real calf skin heads or any other 11” high crown head.
