I started out playing acoustic guitar and recently decided to try banjo. I’ve owned my Deering Goodtime II for about 5 weeks now and I’m thrilled that I can already play songs, both picking and strumming. I was amazed at how quickly it’s come along and how enjoyable it’s been. Tere are similarities between guitar and banjo which helped, but the banjo strings seem easier to play, and I’ve found the banjo chords easier to form. I’ve discovered that you don’t have to be able to finger pick lightning fast to make great music with a banjo. I’ve never had a formal lesson, and the funny thing is, I only started playing the guitar two and a half years ago!
