Grab your 3D glasses and head to the RAI Halls, Amsterdam for
IBC2009 (11-15 September). 3D has proven its popularity in
cinemas around the world during the last year or so, and the
next target for this totally immersive viewing experience is the
living room - in fact, your living room.
The demand for 3D content will explode once 3D finds its way
through the front door of homes across the globe. And it might
be a lot closer than you think. IBC will showcase a variety of 3D
displays, stereoscopic camera systems, 3D editing and finishing
equipment this year - demonstrating the rapid investment in
technology designed to fast-track this ‘next big thing’. Behind

the scenes, a Blu-Ray 3D Task Force - led by Panasonic - has
been formed to work on an industry standard. In the UK, Sky has
already broadcast 3D programmes on DTH satellite and has
