ISLAND DJS: TRISTAN INGRAM
How long have you been coming out to Ibiza?
“This is my 11th full season now and my fi fth as PR manager for Judgement Sunday. I got my fi rst
DJ break at Simples and have built things up ever since. I feel like a bit of a granddad of the island
now!”
What are your main gigs this season?
“I promote my own night Random, at Hush, which is weekly on Tuesday nights. I’m also putting on
my third Breast Cancer Research party at Gala Night, with BK, Jonathan Ulysses, Oliver Lang and
more on Tuesday 28th July. Then there’s four dates at Judgement Sundays, three for Pukka Up and
a few other ones here and there.”
How would you describe your sound right now?
“Funky progressive tech-house!”
Who have been your biggest DJ infl uences?
“It all started with people like Judge Jules and Tall Paul. These days, it’s people like Steve Lawler,
Carl Cox and Jonathan Ulysses but I still love a good stomp to Julesy!”
What’s been your best Ibiza moment?
“Space opening party this year when Carl Cox dropped my track ‘Perfect Sunrise’, with Ali Wilson
and Matt Smallwood. I had no idea he was going to play it. It was without a doubt the best thing
that has ever happened to me in Ibiza.”
What advice would give to DJs trying to crack the island?
“Get over here, get in amongst it, network and get yourself in front of the promoters. It’s no good
sending a mix CD because people get fl ooded with them. I’ve had about 500 for Random already.”
Pitfalls of a season in Ibiza?
“Sleep. Or lack of. Crap internet that won’t let you upload photos and having a pay-as-you-go
credit phone, which costs a fuckin’ fortune!”
What’s next?
“Making load of music to make the step up. We’ve had a couple of tracks signed to Toolroom —
including ‘Perfect Sunrise’, which Tong has been playing on Radio 1. I’ve also done a remix of my
favourite trance classic — X-Cabs’ ‘Neuro 99’ — with Black Russian."
“We’re putting in quality promoters and DJs but just giving
