Monday 7th
Pray for people who feel lonely and isolated from their family in this Advent
season, that they may have sustaining relationships with friends, and be
particularly aware of God’s love for them.
Tuesday 8th
There are many people who need our care at this time Lord, but so often
we do not see the need. Open our eyes Lord and help us to do all we can
to bring your love and hope to others during Advent.
Wednesday 9th
Today forget about how you will cope with the Christmas season and instead
pause to reflect on Mary and Joseph’s long journey to Bethlehem; their only
security being a donkey – and just when Mary needed to rest she had to lie in
a stable.
Thursday 10th – United Nations Human Rights Day
Human rights come in many forms – be they our basic livelihood,
emergencies, gender equality, justice, building peace, trade and markets,
corporate accountability or disaster risk reduction – all of these determine
the quality of life we lead, so let us pray today for all those who create
impossible lives for others, where hope is not even a dream.
Friday 11th
We pray for those who have spent many Christmases caring for people in
nursing and residential homes in our communities. We ask you to be with
them and their dependent people – uphold them in their daily needs.
Saturday 12th
Make ready for the Christ whose smile, like lightning, sets free the song
of everlasting glory that sleeps in your paper flesh – like dynamite.
