Sovereign Lord, at the beginning of a new Parliamentary session, we
b
remember that all authority comes from you. We pray that those who
e
govern and legislate would be filled with a desire to serve you.

Monday 9th
Many of the decisions which affect families in the UK and Ireland are taken by
the European Parliament. Pray that the needs of the people of each member
nation will be considered and that ways would be found to ensure that
everyone feels involved in this legislative process.
Tuesday 10th
O Steadfast God, thank you for the quiet diligence of civil servants and
the way that their work enables new laws to create real changes in
people’s lives.
Wednesday 11th
Sovereign Lord, we give you thanks for the work and commitment of like-
minded interest groups campaigning to raise awareness of family issues. We
ask you to rekindle their enthusiasm in keeping government bodies
accountable.
Thursday 12th
Mothers’ Union continues to have a consultative relationship with the
United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. Pray for the work of
the United Nations as it seeks to build consensus and move forward on
international issues affecting women and families.
Friday 13th
Life-giving God, you have challenged each one of us to be salt and light in the
world. Help us to discharge our political duties wisely as we seek to engage
with politicians through campaigns, responding to consultations, petitions
and using our vote.
Saturday 14th
God of mystery and presence, fill us with the understanding of your spirit
within our souls so that, filled by you, in the darkest moments of our
lives, no deprivation can ever leave us destitute.
