Family and friends are the most important aspect of both a child’s and an adult’s life,
2009
so make real time for family and friends that does not get distracted by mobiles, TVs or
other material products.
Tuesday 15th
Unhealthy lifestyles promoting sugary, salty, high-fat foods to children are
leading to rising obesity, and the upward trend in media violence is increasing
the levels of violent behaviour among all age-groups. Pray today that education
will equip all people to lead healthier, more peaceful lives.
Wednesday 16th
Adults, be they parents or teachers, need to be supported and less embarrassed to
stand up for the values without which a society cannot flourish. Help us Lord to
maintain Christian values wherever we find ourselves in this world.
Thursday 17th
Competitive schooling, league tables and increasing bullying create lasting
damage to both children and adults. Lord, help us to find new and affirming ways
to communicate, work and play with each other.
Friday 18th
Only a quarter of children that are seriously troubled or disturbed by mental health
difficulties are getting any kind of specialist help. Lord, help us to act more quickly and
with gentleness to all children needing dedicated support.
Saturday 19th
More money will have to be redistributed from the rich to the poor if the UK
Government is to hit its target of eradicating child poverty by 2020. Lord, help us
to campaign effectively to reduce child poverty in the UK and across the wider
world.
