E
ach day at 12 noon Mothers’ Union members pause to pray. You can use
these daily prayers to join this 24/7 Wave of Prayer around the globe,
e
m
praying for the dioceses in turn. The Wave of Prayer is divided into five-day
b
sections when we pray for a group of dioceses. The province is listed first in e
bold type, followed by the diocese. If there is a specific worker to pray for in
r
2009
that diocese then their name is added in italics.
For example, in the Wave of Prayer on this page, we are praying for dioceses
in the provinces of Australia, Uganda, West Africa and York. The workers we
are praying for are Mrs Jane Akabwai in the Diocese of Kumi, Uganda; Mrs
Emma Loumo in the Diocese of Karamoja, Uganda and Mrs Freda Ocen in the
Diocese of Soroti, Uganda.
SEPTEMBER – Tuesday 1st
God is sheer joy and sheer joy demands company. St Thomas Aquinas
Today spend some time with God in silence and listen to what God is saying to you in
this moment of your life.
Wednesday 2nd
Sometimes we are so set in patterns of behaviour or long-established routines that
we forget to stop and reflect on their original purpose. Let us stop to question
whether we need to make any changes to these patterns and routines that could
improve our life and those around us.
Thursday 3rd
Today let us be aware of any thoughts, words or actions that might be hurtful to others
– let us pause and pray that we prevent them from becoming a reality.
Friday 4th
We can make our minds so like still water that beings gather about us so that they may
see their own images, and so live for a moment with a clearer, perhaps even with a
fiercer life, because of our quiet. W.B.Yeats
Saturday 5th
For many people Saturday is a day of rest and relaxation but for those people who
cannot stop work due to responsibilities in the home, job pressures or because of
dependent others, let us pray that they will soon have a proper break.
