e can’t believe it is already December, which means it’s time to start planning
where to travel next year. There are several major events
happening in 2024.
1 | PARIS, FRANCE The Summer Olympics begin on
July 26 and end on Aug. 11. The opening ceremony is being held on the Seine river, the fi rst time it hasn’t taken place in a stadium. This will allow spectators without
tickets to attend the festivities. Access to the upper decks lining the riverfront will be fi rst come, fi rst served. You’ll want to book as soon as
possible for tickets to the games themselves, as well as for fl ights and hotels.
2 | CLEVELAND, OHIO To witness the total solar eclipse on
April 8, 2024, head to Cleveland. It’s one of the 13 American cities in the path of totality. (There are more in Mexico and Canada.) The city will have three minutes
and 50 seconds of dawn or dusk-like darkness when the moon passes between the sun and Earth around 3:15 p.m. The Cleveland Museum of Natural History is planning a weekend-
long series of events leading up to a viewing party at University Circle’s Wade Oval. While in Cleveland, enjoy the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, top-tier museums, Lake Erie, and one of the country’s hottest up-and-coming food scenes.
3 | KO SAMUI, THAILAND This island used COVID-
19’s tourism hiatus to improve infrastructure and renovate resorts. It also upped its food game, and for the fi rst time in 2024, Ko Samui will be featured in the Michelin Guide Thailand.
