similar way, more people would look for ways to touch people who are the most untouchable. We would look for ways to give to

people who are the least to expect it, but maybe are the ones who need it the most. Instead of heaping on each other

magnifi cent and expensive gifts, more focus would be given to friends and family and helping people who can’t reciprocate. The commercialized aspect of the

holiday should come with a reminder to small children that it is a special time of the year. It’s a time to celebrate that God

didn’t forget us. He didn’t send us a book and say read this. He showed up in person. The essence of the Christmas story for Christians is he

How the Huckabee Family Celebrates

O

ne way my family remembers that Christmas is about Christ and not Claus is by attending

a quiet, candlelight Christmas Eve church service. Afterward, we continue a long-standing family

tradition by going out to enjoy a Chinese dinner. It’s a tradition that was started 40 years ago by my father, who was battling cancer and had a craving for Chinese food after services. The next year, he was still alive, and we

ore than 3 out of every 4 people (77%) tell Newsmax they believe in God. Only 15% do

not believe in a higher power, and the remainder are not sure about their beliefs. Our nationwide poll of 1,300

adults found that while the U.S. is a secular country that encourages pluralism, God and faith are never far from everyday lives. The inclusion of “In God We

Trust” on the nation’s currency underscores the importance the nation places on faith in God. “God Bless America” reminds us that despite our diverse backgrounds and faiths, we are one nation.
