Nixon Best Friend Jewish People Ever Had

A

fter horror and hell descended across Israel again, and Israel hatred again

became standard fare in the cafes and cafeterias of the world, we might look back to my old pal, Richard M. Nixon, and see what his wisdom could contribute to the situation. Nixon was so complex a man,

and was hated and loved in so many ways, that it’s hard to even start to analyze and understand him in relation to the Jews. But let’s start with a few basics. First, although some “commentators” have described Nixon as antisemitic, which is someone hostile to or prejudiced against Jewish people, that would be 100% incorrect. As I write in my new book, The Peacemaker, antisemitism was a basic approach to life for Nixon and toward Jews when he was born, grew up, and was educated in the arid air of rural Southern California. Nixon grew up surrounded by antisemitism. But his mother, whom he loved deeply, was never even close to being antisemitic. Mrs. Nixon, in fact, believed strongly that Jews were an extremely important part of America in a positive way. She told him when he was a child

and already expressing powerful interest in politics that he would someday be an important factor in United States government. Mrs. Nixon told her son that he

would someday be in a position to do great things for the Jews, and that he would be in a position to see that the Jews used their skills and patriotism to do great things for America. That time came in spades in the Yom Kippur War in 1973. Due to

some extremely serious mistakes in government and foreign policy and defense by the Israeli government under Golda Meir, the Egyptians and Syrians foiled Israel’s defenses along the Suez Canal and on the Golan Heights.

In fact, before Nixon, the U.S. had refused to aid Israel in even a small way.

Israel’s vaunted air force was

blocked by the Soviet SA-7 antiaircraft rockets in the hands of Egyptians and to a smaller extent the Syrians. The U.S. had “black boxes” that

could jam the Russian antiaircraft rockets. But the high pooh-bahs at the Department of Defense and the State Department did not want to ship the devices to Israel. Even Henry Kissinger, the president’s highest national security adviser, cautioned Nixon not to send the black boxes to Israel. But Nixon did not want to see Israel defeated. And he did not want Israel to use the nuclear option.

S

o Nixon, over and over called antisemitic, defied his own “deep

state” and sent the lifesaving black boxes to Israel. He actually told the Defense Department that he wanted to hear the sound of the C-5s taking off from U.S. Air Force and Army bases for Israel over the phone. That saved Israel’s life. Now,

as Israel is in another life-or-death crisis, with wildly antisemitic, pro- terrorist mobs roaming the streets of America’s cities, we might do well to

remember Nixon, the best friend the Jewish people have ever had. Despite the horrible truth that

Nixon was being attacked for imaginary hatred of Israel even as he was being slandered and libeled by antisemitic “news commentators” for totally nonexistent misconduct, Nixon literally risked nuclear war with the USSR to save Israel. Russia had threatened a “boots on

the ground” invasion of the theater of war with Egypt if Israel beat the Arabs again with U.S. aid; Nixon took the bet. He risked nuclear war to save

Israel, something no other U.S. president had ever done before. In fact, before Nixon, the U.S. had refused to aid Israel in even a small way.

No Democrat, no Republican, had

taken the incredible step of going to the ultra-high standard of nuclear called Defcon 3 as Nixon did during the Yom Kippur War. Still, Jewish voters overwhelmingly

voted against Nixon in 1974 and for the GOP from then on. No other president has ever been such a good friend to us Jews as Nixon. Right now, we see echoes of

those times. Despite the horror of October’s massacre of the innocents in Israel, the American leftists still vote for the side that excuses the killers. But still, the GOP is pro- Israel. Still, the friends of RN, as I am, will side with Israel forever. Richard Nixon: a friend to

Israel and to the Jews of biblical proportions. And yet, the Democrats side with the terrorists. Richard Nixon would still have known which side was right and which was wrong. I love him and I always will.
