FBI Warns Terrorists Ready to Strike Homeland

out of Gaza, slaughtering more than 1,400 Israelis and injuring another 4,229. The death toll in Israel, a coun-


try of less than 10 million people, was the equivalent of killing nearly 40,000 Americans — 13 times more than died on 9/11. “The reality is that the terrorism


threat has been elevated through- out 2023, but the ongoing war in the Middle East has raised the threat of an attack against Americans in the United States to a whole other level,” Wray told the Senate Homeland Secu- rity and Govern- mental Affairs Committee on Oct. 31. Wray’s warn-

multiple foreign terrorist organi- zations, fi nanced and directed by Iran, have publicly called for attacks against Americans and the West. Meanwhile, a record number of


people on the FBI’s terrorist watch- list have tried to enter the U.S. this year through the southern border. While the FBI insists it has no


specifi c evidence that the U.S. faces any imminent threat from a terror- ist organization, Wray warned that the Hamas attack “will serve as an inspiration the likes of which we haven’t seen since ISIS launched its so-called caliphate years ago. “It is a time to be concerned,” he


said. “We are in a dangerous period.” Border security experts say it


would be naive for Americans to think that what occurred in Israel couldn’t happen in the U.S. — espe- cially considering that the Biden administration’s policies have per- mitted illegal immigrants to pour across the southern border at unprecedented rates. Hamas, the Islamist group that
