GOV. ABBOTT A MORAL LEADER Newsmax does a great job profiling Americans who truly love their country and are willing to fight for it (“Will of Steel,” May). Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Texas, is such a leader. Yet, he is pilloried for doing the right thing by standing up to defend our southern border when the federal government does nothing. God bless Gov. Abbott for having the political courage to defy Washington and send in your National

Guard to stop the flood of illegal immigrants crossing from Mexico. If our forefathers and mothers could enter America the right and legal way, why can’t today’s trespassers? maynard folonspell Salt Lake City, Utah

Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas and Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., have exposed the left for what they really are, hypocrites. DeSantis shipped illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts; Abbott shipped them to blue cities. Then the liberals started howling “not in our backyard!” How do you turn a liberal into a conservative? Easy, just send them busloads of illegals. mildred krohnhoski Indianapolis, Ind.

Gov. Abbott’s personal courage, overcoming the tragic accident that left him confined to a wheelchair, no doubt gave him the strength to confront the federal government over its inability to police the southern border. He would make a wonderful president of the United States. ethel barnes New Haven, Conn.

Texas is currently facing budget concerns with the increasing number of migrants. Yet it’s crucial to prioritize security at schools. City council members in Cibolo, Texas, are hesitant about having police officers stationed at schools, believing it may not enhance safety. They’ve indicated unwillingness to fund school resource

officers (SROs) due to budget constraints, even though they recently purchased a $69,000 wood chipper. Despite the high salaries of many Cibolo city employees, some earn over $111,000 and even $200,000 annually; the average household income in the area is much lower. Yet other Texas cities like San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston have made sacrifices in nonessential areas to ensure police presence in schools.

The very reason the 2nd Amendment exists is to protect citizens against a tyrannical government, yet our government is clearly tyrannical. We just can’t sit here and let millions more illegal immigrants enter this country, while allowing our criminal justice system to run amok on its citizenry. Freedom isn’t free, and we must fight for it. It’s unfortunate but true that politicians on both sides of the aisle are compromised. They’re all from the same swamp. The only people we have left to fight this are the citizens of this country. That’s what the 2nd Amendment is for, to fight for our constitutional rights. kristopher wynia Salem, Ore.

Let’s get a report on how it is an illegal immigrant has the right to sue, in spite of the fact they broke the law in entering this country. Let’s also find out/report on why illegal immigrants are being treated better than Social Security recipients. (“Terrifying Cost of Illegal Immigration,” January) david skroch Whitehall, Wis.

HONEST ELECTIONS If we are to ever trust our elections, we must ensure voting precincts have accurate voter roles, voter IDs, vote monitoring, and requested absentee ballots validated. The widespread mailing of ballots, ballot boxes, and ballot harvesting are prone to fraud. They should be banned. (“Voter Fraud Still a Big Threat,” April) robert reark Granite Bay, Calif.

BIDEN EVOKES FEAR If this country reelects Joe Biden then I fear what will happen. He was unfit to be president in his first four years. Some of the things he’s done would have gotten any other person in big trouble. But his wife, the Democrats, and the news media cover for him. I’m 90, and lived and worked in and around D.C. I never heard a good word about “Old Joe.” So, when you go to vote this fall think about how you love this country, but not where it’s headed. (“Joe Biden’s Brain,” February) charles n. hurt Leesburg, Fla.

RAMPANT ENTITLEMENT The news is always saying that the unemployment rate is down. How do we know? How many have just signed up for Medicaid? As a healthcare worker, I hear and see those every day who are on Medicaid. Getting phones, professional hair and nail care, pretty much having “the world owes me a living” attitude.
