Organizers of this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris are planning a spectacular opening ceremony unlike any other. At sunset on July 26, a flotilla of 100 boats will carry athletes from more than 200 countries along a 4-mile stretch of the Seine, passing thousands of spectators seated on the banks of the river. The ceremony will be the first in Olympic history to be held outside of a stadium. French authorities are mounting a massive security operation to protect against terrorist attacks and demonstrations. If you can’t make it to France to see the event, it will be screened live on NBC and, for the first time, at 150 IMAX theaters across the U.S.
