Our town centre has been transformed but it’s vital that we continue to invest across the borough, improving local economies and allow- ing our residents and high streets to flourish.
That’s why we’ve put £35m into our Principal Towns programme, which includes transforming shop fronts, improving the high streets and creating new public spaces for all to enjoy.
In Goldthorpe, for example, we’re building on the long-term leg- acy of the Towns Fund to provide a new holistic place vision with a focus on new employment opportunities and market-defin- ing housing whilst celebrating the cultural heritage and identity of a once vibrant urban centre. We’ve also enjoyed tremendous success in Hoyland, where we welcomed Evri to the borough after the consumer delivery specialists invested £60m to open an automated parcel distribution hub, the largest of its kind in Europe.
