lockdowns, 40,000 fans were allowed into the stadium. Wembley was by no means full, but the fans brought an atmosphere that had been missing for so long in live football. The England team also went in to the match with confidence after performing well in the group stages. “I just think it grabbed the mood of the
nation,” says Bigwood. “It was something celebratory that everybody in England needed.”
