Tackle dealer alliance rumoured

umours are rife that a new dealer alliance is being formed to apply
pressure to tackle manufacturers. If true, the newly formed group will have a combined turnover in excess of £40 million – a signifi cant amount of buying power. In a quote, anonymously leaked

to Tackle & Guns, the proposed group states: “We’re unhappy that big chains are receiving unfair discounts and we will no longer be lied to by manufacturers. “The pressure group will leverage its huge buying power against this. “We don’t want to bully anyone on price, that’s not our way. It’s either one price for all or you lose our business. Manufacturers have some tough decisions ahead of them.” T&G will report further as more information is made available.
n a move that surprised very few people, Fox International has acquired Spomb Limited and Spomb Fishing Limited.
The move comes a month after Spomb announced potential court action after alleged infringement to its intellectual property. Shaun McSpadden, Fox
International’s product development director, commented: “This is an excellent addition to the Fox portfolio. Fox and Spomb share the same values of innovation, quality service and brand strength so it is a perfect fi t for us.” Spomb bait dispensers were the brainchild of inventor and fanatical carp angler, Bryan Houghton. The revolutionary concept was a true innovation and, in a market where products come and go regularly, the fact the Spomb is more popular than ever, eight years after it was fi rst launched, is testament to its unique, innovative nature. The business has also thrived due to a well-deserved reputation for great quality and customer service.

no word on whether Spomb’s pending legal action is to continue, or not.
