DSM LAUNCHES CRINA®

DIGEST: A NEW SOLUTION

Digest is a unique and cost-effective combination of three essential oil compounds: thymol, eugenol and piperine. • Its microencapsulation technology ensures a controlled release of bioactives along the gastrointestinal tract, significantly enhancing poultry digestive function. • Crina®

SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVING POULTRY DIGESTIVE FUNCTION. • Crina®

Digest is the latest addition to the Crina® complementing Crina® range for the poultry sector, Poultry Plus, the premium holistic solution registered in the

European Union as a zootechnical feed additive for broilers. • DSM’s long-standing investment and innovation in eubiotics represents its commitment to supporting the industry’s efforts to reduce the use of antibiotics. Proper digestive function supports animal resilience and welfare and thus helps reduce the use of antibiotics. DSM has pioneered the development of a broad suite of innovative solutions to improve and support digestive function. Crina® complements the Crina®

Digest range with a unique formulation of high purity essential oil

actives, that enhance digestive function and performance in poultry production. “DSM has the broadest nutrition portfolio in the market. The Poultry segment

is a core focus for us, where we are continuously investing to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges facing the industry and in proposing unique solutions”, says Bernhard Putz, Vice President Global Marketing, DSM Animal Nutrition & Health. “We strongly believe in the potential of essential oils to improve digestive function

across all species”, continues Sebastian Marten, Vice President Enzymes and Eubiotics, DSM Animal Nutrition & Health. “We have invested in the development of our portfolio over many years and we have the ambition to continue innovating in the future to grow and shape the market”. Crina®

Digest provides a cost-effective solution for producers who want to

leverage the impact of essential oils on the productivity of their birds. This latest innovation encompasses a unique association of Thymol, Eugenol and Piperine, active in supporting digestive function, through stimulating digestive enzymes and enhancing nutrient digestibility whilst improving the proportion of beneficial bacteria in the gut. Crina®

Digest reinforces the DSM Eubiotics portfolio, complementing Crina®

Poultry Plus, the DSM premium essential oils solution that is combined with Benzoic acid and recognized in EMEA as a zootechnical additive. “Its advanced microencapsulation technology ensures the gradual diffusion of

the actives along the gastrointestinal tract”, explains Antoine Meuter, Global Category Manager Eubiotics, DSM Animal Nutrition & Health. “The highest rate of diffusion takes place within the small intestine – the focus for nutrient and digestive absorption - promoting a natural boost to gut microbiota & enzyme secretions”. The Crina®

range aids better modulation of the birds’ gut microbiota when facing

the development of non-symbiotic microorganisms, supporting the overall resilience of poultry to stress. “Our research focus on Eubiotics over the last 30 years has given us enormous

insight into the sustainable opportunity that this science represents to the feed industry”, concludes Sebastian Marten. “By creating a better functioning gut, we believe the industry can continue to make progress in improving animal resilience and supporting the reduced use of antibiotics”.
