NEWS

renewables division After seeing a surge in demand for sustainable power solutions, Nixon Hire invested in the most cutting-edge, eco-friendly products, and created a new Renewable Power Division, headed up by Manager Nick Hibbard, supported by Head of Sales, Simon Gibbs, who brings a wealth of sales and technical experience and joins from Hybrid Power Hire, having previously held senior sales roles at Speedy for over 16 years. Meanwhile, Nixon Hire’s new ‘Solar Smart Site’

offering aims to lead the construction industry towards a more sustainable future, incorporating four of Nixon Hire’s renewable products – solar pods, solar smart frames, battery storage units and ‘Erica’ smart distribution boards. The solar smart frames enable customers to add solar power systems to any roof or spare space on site, while the smart distribution boards provide an insight into on-site power consumption and allow for remote monitoring and control.

Nixon Hire adds

economy The 'mini-budget' on 23rd September unleashed a torrid time, with businesses under renewed pressure on top of skyrocketing energy prices, inflation, supply chain delays and skill shortages. The markets decided that the measures represented too much of a risk.

Twists and turns destabilise UK

Since then, the abolition of the 45p tax rate has been cancelled. Will we see further changes before his statement on medium-term finances due on 23rd November (or sooner) and the much anticipated OBR forecast? Let's not forget the well-being of people working in the sector facing the

most turbulent of recent times. A reduction in housebuilding activity and confidence will reduce demand

for hired tools, plant and equipment, as with other construction work. Money for central and local government funded capital projects and

maintenance is likely to be reduced. High inflation is also eating away at capital programmes. Householders worried about money will be less likely to go ahead with improvements. Meanwhile, our members are continuing to invest to green their fleets and in skills and people and the hire sector remains a key enabling force across the economy. Getting both energy costs and inflation

under control rank highly for us, and we hope the Government now has the same priorities.
