News Sales milestone
for Shellplant Popular dealer, Shellplant, recently surpassed the 5,000 sales mark for its range of Kubota mini-excavators. The Northants-based company celebrated its 1,000th sale in 2011 and has since seen the demand for Kubota mini- excavators rising rapidly. “We are delighted to reach this considerable Kubota milestone. We thought it fitting to mark our achievement in a positive way, and that is why we will be donating £5000 to charity,” explained Shellplant Partner Julian Payne. “The nominated charity is the local Riding for Disabled Group based in Mears Ashby. Their
vision is to enrich the lives of disabled people through horses and their aim is to support an extra 10,000 people by 2025 so the money is much needed.” The 5,000th sale was a Kubota U56-5, which was purchased by Charlie Morson of CM Services Agricultural and Groundwork Ltd, also based in Northamptonshire. The very first Kubota that Shellplant sold was a K008 micro excavator purchased by Stable Hire of Rushden Northamptonshire, who apparently liked it so much they bought an identical machine a month later.
Just the thing for the Orangery There is certainly more to ladders than the sorts used by your local window cleaner. Further
proving the point, LFI has just launched one designed specifically for conservatories and other delicate roofs. The PRo Conservatory Ladder is a heavy-duty aluminium conservatory ladder that provides access to eave heights between 2.1m and 2.9m – perfect for the cleaning and maintenance of conservatories, orangeries, mobile homes and caravans. Manufactured in Britain, the extra wide extending conservatory access
ladder features PVC bearer bars that minimise the risk of damaging the contact surface, while helping to spread the weight evenly. Plus, with pivoting feet, a glazing suction pad with a webbing strap, and an integral roof section handrail to aid climbing between sections, the PRo Conservatory Ladder is constructed to guarantee maximum safety. The PRo Conservatory Ladder folds
flat for easy storage and transportation, and comes with a ten-year manufacturer’s warranty. An optional add-on extends the reach by 0.75m.
HAVs and WBVs sorted The firm behind ‘HAVSPRO’, a recently evolved solution for
the real-time measurement and monitoring of workplace vibration, is expanding its workforce to meet the increasing demand for its product. In its first six months alone, the Derbyshire-based company has grown by 50 per cent and turnover has reached almost £1m. HAVSPRO was developed by SIXIS Technology, part of the Simpatica Group. Created with the safety of operators and the protection of employers in mind, the new technology measures real-time vibration magnitude as users operate vibrating tools, providing alerts before dangerous limits are reached. Recent interest in HAVSPRO, which sits on the tool as pictured, has led to a flurry of enquiries from a range of sectors who see the benefits of protecting their workforces from the effects of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and Whole- Body Vibration (WBV). Notably, HAVSPRO has been put to use by contractors Laing O’Rourke. According to client feedback, the biggest success factor is the ease with which operators can implement the system, as they simply click the sensor on and off the tool they are using.
