T
he UK and Ireland has seen a massive growth in the amount of 20mm porcelain used in
landscaping in the last few years; this has increased even further since the pandemic due to homeowners appreciating the benefits of indoor/outdoor living.
Traditionally landscapers and tilers have used a petrol angle grinder to cut such material, however apart from badly cut tiles and danger to the operator from slippages, there is an additional risk of inhaling dust and upsetting neighbours with noise and dust over their property!
Rubi has developed a range of tools and accessories specially aimed to put the health of tilers, landscapers, and construction workers at the forefront of our designs. Products include electric cutters, such as the DC Python, DCX 250, and the DX 350 with a patented C3 Python cooling system and ZERO Dust system.
Using the C3 Python cooling system, available in the DC Python and DCX 250, the user can adjust the water application point on the cutting surface and reduce the amount of dust generated when cutting materials, significantly reducing the possibility of silicosis in long-term users.
The DX 350 comes equipped with the ZERO DUST system, tested by TNO. This system greatly reduces the amount of dust generated when cutting the various materials this high-powered machine can cut, allowing the user to work safely in an open space for three continuous hours.
These machines also have the advantage of being extremely accurate, with some models able to make mitre cuts as well as cutting other materials such as block paving, concrete blocks and paving slabs. These machines are very mobile and easy to use, making them perfect for the hire sector.
Backing these machines up are some great blades!
The Rubi SPT blade is the first choice for users, offering between 200 and 300 linear meters of cuts. This is a premium blade which gives the user a high-quality finish. For a slightly cheaper option, the new TPX blade offers between 80 and 150 linear cuts. Both blades are designed to cut 20mm porcelain in one pass.
With customers wanting bespoke offerings, Rubi also has products that can edge tiles in various shapes as bull nosing, and rail cutting systems perfect for picture framing a tile display, and drill bits for light installations.
Apart from producing fantastic electric cutters for landscaping Rubi also have a range of manual ‘score and snap’ tile cutters which makes any indoor project a breeze.
