P&P LIVE! 2017 review


Printwear & Promotion LIVE! exceeds expectations


This year was yet another exceptional one for Printwear & Promotion LIVE! as more than 5,600 people from across the globe packed out Hall 20 for the three-day exhibition. P&P editor Melanie Attlesey reports.


T


his year a total of 5,620 visitors attended the show to discover new developments and products within the garment and promotional product decoration industry. Comparing this figure to previous years (2015: 5,691 and 2016: 5,376), this yearʼs extravaganza certainly exceeded all expectations. Event director, Tony Gardner, said: “This


year, P&P LIVE! truly fulfilled the promise of there being ʻeven more to seeʼ. Having doubled in size over the last five years, P&P LIVE! moved from Hall 12 to the larger Hall 20 to accommodate further growth. “With over 30 new exhibitors joining those from previous years, including Stormtech, Kariban, Sanco Technology and Xpres, there was a record high of over 160 stands exhibiting advancements and innovations in the printwear field. All in all, this yearʼs show was without a doubt a huge success on all fronts.” Visitors were able to take advantage of


the many live machinery demonstrations taking place during the show, enabling them to see any potential purchases in action before signing on the dotted line. You can read more about some of the new machinery present at the show on pages 28 and 29. In addition to this visitors were also able to witness the launch of over 30 new pieces of equipment and garments.


Popular feature areas For many attending the show, education

specialist-led talks on developments, discoveries and expansions within garment decoration. Oliver Luedtke, director of marketing at Kornit Digital Europe, discussed the concept of mass customisation and the technical developments that make it possible in the textile industry, while Karen Burrows of Madeira UK spoke about the fine details of embroidery. The Screen Print Workshop was also a


hive of activity as industry experts William Shorter of CPS and Douglas Grigar, master screen printer and educator, presented topics of interest for screen printing experts and novices alike. Visitors were also able to benefit from


hints and tips for decorating hats and bags on the Bag & Headwear Decoration


A fantastic year As with previous years, the fashion show catwalk proved to be a big hit among visitors. Each day the latest lines in leisure wear, sportswear, outdoor clothing and workwear were showcased in a lively manner on the catwalk. The audience was always packed full as visitors were eager to see the latest printwear styles modelled. Take a look at some pictures from the fashion show on pages 30 and 31. will take place in Halls 17 & 18 at the NEC in Birmingham and will run from Sunday, January 21 to Tuesday, January 23. Tony added: “For some time the major printwear brands and distributors have wanted the show to move into January to better coincide with the launch of their new lines at the start of the year. Consequently, for 2018 we have been able to secure earlier dates, as well as halls that allow for yet further expansion.” Save the date!
