O

shop in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. It was opened with the intention of making workwear more accessible to the customer and the latest financial figures show that South East Workwear has grown by nearly 25% over the last 12 months, in part thanks to the opening of the new store. Ady Burton, director, said: “Time could only tell if investing in the reinvention of selling workwear was going to pay off for us. This was a huge investment back in to the high street as so many similar companies are based on industrial estates.” The store stocks well known workwear

As well as workwear and PPE, the store also stocks over 1,000 pairs of boots for customers to try on and take away the same day.

Mr Burton continued: “This last quarter alone where we have operated from our new store, has seen our Dickiesʼ sales soar by an extra 75% compared to last year. Our company sales figures had been set to target a modest 10% growth on last year but instead have seen nearly 25% for the year. “Viv (Adyʼs wife) and I truly believe that reinventing yourself and always evolving

your business, taking risks and going against the status quo is vital to stay ahead of the competition. It shows in the figures, that the belief of the investment is really worth it, not only have we added valuable business that employs many local people, but the footfall has increased in store by over 500% compared to our old shop.” The new store is located next door to South East Workwearʼs old shop, so the team donʼt have to worry about losing their existing trade. Currently there are no plans to roll out the new shop style across the UK as Mr Burton believes it is important to get the formula right first.

“Bringing workwear to the high street is a gamble, but one that has been very well received,” Mr Burton concluded.

AS Colour will open its first UK retail store this summer

All products sold within the store will be identical to the printwear range available to the trade. The shop is intended to double as a London showroom, in addition to AS Colour's small showroom in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

The trade will be able to send customers to the shop to view the range, as well as see products correctly merchandised and at RRP retail prices.

With prior notice printwear customers can also arrange bespoke visits for themselves or their clients, where the team will take the time to show and explain the range. The shop is currently being fitted out and is expected to open in late June or beginning of July.

oly Star is the latest Gunold thread available

from GS UK – a perfect combination of function meeting glamour. Poly Star as the name suggests is made from polyester thread which is twisted with a metallic thread. The polyester component makes the thread functional, hard-wearing and soft, whilst the metallic thread causes Poly Star to sparkle and glitter. This special effect 30ʼs weight thread offers a completely new look. Embroideries and decorative seams sewn with Poly Star look harmonious, subtle and at the same time very elegant. Poly Star is very gentle to the skin as Gunoldʼs marketing manager Stephan Gunold explains.

Poly Star is where function meets glamour

He said: “The existing metallic threads always seem to scratch your skin unpleasantly. This is exactly where we started with Poly Star. We were looking for a sparkling, glittering effect thread that also feels pleasant to the skin and with Poly Star we have succeeded!”

The complete range includes 54 modern, vibrant colours although initially GS UK will be stocking a selection of 20 popular shades, in 1000m mini-king cones.
