Big Wearables show success T
he Big Wearables Trade Show recently arrived at Old Trafford, home of Manchester United, which also included The Big Promotional Trade Show.
This year’s show was also used as a launchpad by the British Promotional Merchandise Association (BPMA), which hosted a breakfast event to explain an important new initiative.
BPMA membership director Tom Robey said: “We used the breakfast meeting to showcase our Step Forward sustainability pledge, and we’ve got a conference at the end of June, to which we’re inviting all our members, to support the launch of the pledge itself.
“This morning was a great in-depth look at what suppliers and distributors can adhere to in terms of sustainability throughout 2023. It was also great to catch up with both distributors and suppliers during the show itself.”

rganisers of The BIG Promotional Trade Show & Promotional Showcase has announced the launch of a new show format for the 2023 midseason. The Green and New Promo Show will focus on the many sustainable and new products released into the promotional merchandise and wearables marketplace this year. With more than 50 key industry suppliers and brands exhibiting, the 2023 shows will be at London, Elstree and Leeds.

Show open 10am – 4pm. “Working in partnership with Ecologi, The Green and New Promo Show will plant one tree for every show attendee,” explained the event organisers. “Show lanyards, banners, badges, pens, awards and goody bags will all be sustainable and recyclable. Our exhibitors and our venues are being challenged to make and match sustainable pledges and options too. “We recommend planning your journey to the show and travelling by the most sustainable method possible. Vegetarian and plant-based food and drinks will be readily available. “We’re not making any
greenwashing claims about the shows being totally sustainable, the events are about sustainable products, new products and this is about first steps, many of which we want to introduce across all our show brands, or indeed have already done so. We want to bring everyone with us on the journey.”

The Big Show spring series wrapped up at Heathrow the following wee,k with organisers reporting an increase in visitor attendees of more than 40% on average across the shows.
The shows have given promotional merchandise distributors a closer look at a lot of wearables merchandise and the confidence to sell more. For wearables and print wear distributors and decorators there are also great opportunities to learn more about promotional merchandise and look at the opportunity to sell these products to their customers who will no doubt be otherwise buying them from other sources.

Gerry Thomas from The Big Shows presented Chris Bunting from Regatta Professional with the best stand award sponsored by Crystal Galleries Ltd. Winner of the best overall new product award went to Tracy Richards and Neutral for their Tiger Cotton range.
Kingly awarded with GRS and GOTS Certificates for unisex apparel

ingly have been awarded with two new certifications. These are proof that their unisex apparel is manufactured according to the Global Recycling Standard (GRS) and the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). As the company takes transparency very seriously, they have invested €100,000 every year on SMETA Pillar 4 audits and certification procedures. Kingly have also implemented an anti- greenwashing validation system to prove traceability through the third-party Cradle to Gate sustainability platform.
