Q&A

The engineering team at ROQ were tasked with manufacturing the largest ROQ Oval ever with 80 aluminum honeycomb pallets and 26 print heads. Here, Fernando Pinto, CEO of the Portuguese company, explains more about this project.

Q

Can you describe the requirements you received from your customer and how the conversation was started to build the largest ROQ Oval ever? A. This is a long time ROQ customer that already has several of our machines. The need to expand their production capacity came up and, after a careful analysis of what the customer needed, it was concluded that the best option would be to produce a machine with a dimension never made before.

How long was the manufacturing process from concept to completion?

What makes the ROQ Oval different to other oval screen printing carousels on the market? What unique features does the Oval have? A. The main difference between ROQ Oval machines and other machines on the market is their registration capability. It is patented and unique on the market and remains reliable over the years of machine use. This system allows the perfect connection between the white base and the different colours.

Q

The largest ROQ Oval ever! Q

What kind of customer requires an Oval machine of this size?

A. Machines of this size are ideal for customers who need to print with high productivity, without ever losing print quality during the production process. These features apply to all our Oval machines, regardless of their size. These types of customers are usually companies with high production capacity, which produce the same project on a large scale

Q Q The largest ROQ Oval ever produced

A. Considering that we have a vertical integrated manufacturing production process, everything was produced in-house, and the whole process took about two months.

Did you come across any complications or problems to overcome during the manufacturing process? How much of a challenge did this project present to your engineers or design team? Were there any requirements from your customer that you had to take into consideration? A. Our oval machines have been designed to add unlimited modules, which simplifi es the customisation process according to the needs of our customers. So, we were prepared to meet their needs and were able to eliminate some diffi culties that could arise from the beginning.

One of the customer’s requirements was the fact that the machine has two garment inputs and outputs, this allows two jobs to be done at the same time.

Q

This particular Oval has two unloading and loading stations. Is this unique to this machine? Was it a particular requirement of the customer? If so, can you explain why? A. It is not unique to this machine, in fact it is one of the major benefi ts of the Oval, and as stated in the previous question, it was a customer requirement as it lets you do two different jobs at the same time.
