Industry News Gildan joins US Cotton Trust Protocal

he US Cotton Trust Protocol welcomes Gildan Activewear, and its


portfolio of company-owned brands, as members.


Gildan is a manufacturer of everyday basic apparel and one of the largest domestic consumers of US cotton, representing most of the fi bre used in its products. Glenn Chamandy, president and CEO of Gildan, said: “At Gildan, we have a vision of Making Apparel Better, and we have long been committed to ensuring that our supply chain is ethical and sustainable from fi bre to shirt. Joining the US Cotton Trust Protocol is a natural next step in our sustainability and transparency journey as it will increase transparency into our supply


chain while also providing us with additional assurance that the cotton we purchase from the US is sustainably grown with low environmental and social risks.” The US Cotton Trust Protocol is a farm-level, science-based programme that sets a standard for more sustainably grown cotton. It brings goals and measurements to sustainable cotton production and drives continuous improvement in six key sustainability metrics.


Members also receive full supply chain transparency through the Protocol Credit Management System.


The US Cotton Trust Protocol is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and recognised by Textile Exchange and Forum for the Future. It


is also part of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, Cotton 2025 Sustainable Cotton Challenge, Cotton 2040, and Cotton Up initiatives.


F Alexandra takes on Snowdon challenge for Cavell Nurses’ Trust


our Alexandra team members climbed Mount Snowdon on Saturday, July 3 to raise funds for Cavell Nurses’ Trust.


Their efforts have contributed to the £13,000 Alexandra has donated in the past year through fundraising and sponsorship to support nurses and midwives across the UK. Head of customer experience at Alexandra, Ian Northmore, was one of those who took part. He said: “It was a fantastic experience and although it was tough at times, knowing that we were supporting such a great cause was what got everyone through.


Geiger recruits new finance director N


eel Gohil has joined the team at Geiger, as the company’s new fi nance director.


Mr Gohil is a CIMA qualifi ed professional who gained over 10 years’ experience at Heathrow Airport in a variety of senior fi nance and commercial roles, having worked on creating effective ways to develop data analytics and insight through monthly fi nancial reporting, planning and creation of KPIs. Not only does he have wealth of relevant experience, but he also has rigorous analytical skills and understands the complexities of various fi nancial models and their impact on business performance.

Mr Gohil said: “I am incredibly excited to be joining Geiger at this time and I have been very impressed by their growth, despite these challenging COVID-19 times. Alexandra agreed to design and donate 700 T shirts for the 2020 campaign which were given out to participants. The company also sponsored this year’s Snowdon Challenge in addition to having a team taking part.
