Peppa Pig - *Snort*- Theme Park now open in Florida
Susan Storey reports. A
new family has arrived in Central Florida, and they are oinktastic! After being in the United States for ten years as a beloved brand that includes a television show, toys, games, books and more, Peppa Pig
officially has made a home with her entire family – and friends – at the Peppa Pig Theme Park. Located adjacent to the Legoland Florida, the new park is a brand-new second gate destination at Legoland Florida Resort. “The debut of Peppa Pig Theme Park is part of long-term goal to expand
Legoland Florida Resort into a multi-day destination,” shared Rex Jackson, regional managing director, North America Legoland Resorts. “We have been growing in stages for the past ten years. Legoland Florida celebrated its tenth birthday last year. Since opening the park, we added a water park, three hotel properties and now an entirely new park starring Peppa Pig.” Within moments of entering the park, which opened to the public on February
24, guests are treated to the signature sights and sounds of Peppa Pig’s world. The theme song and sweet giggles echo throughout the park, complementing the bright, yet simple color palette that is welcoming and heartwarming. One of the first things guests see is the park’s signature attraction, Daddy
Pig’s Roller Coaster. This is both purposeful and delightful. The winding queue takes riders through a model of Peppa’s family home. The yellow house has photos of the Peppa and her family, and a simple layout designed at toddler-
30
eye level. Guests exit the house and are immediately ready to hop in the car with Daddy Pig himself. Designed to be a preschooler’s first roller coaster, it is a first – and only – of its kind in the world. “We truly partnered with Zamperla to bring this ride to life,” discussed Nick
Miller, operations manager, Peppa Pig Theme Park. “We know Peppa Pig Theme Park will be a first theme park experience for many children and their families, and it was important we create a ride that could be enjoyed together. It’s smooth and has a surprise as the ride cars pick up a little speed mid-way through. Nowhere else in the world can you find a roller coaster where the first car is Daddy Pig himself, driving guests through traffic.” That traffic ride includes a 14 foot (4 metre) drop at a top speed of 16
miles per hour (25 kilometers per hour). Complete with a height requirement of only 36 inches (.9 meters), it is the perfect way to start a lifelong passion for roller coasters. Of course, the park offers much more for young families. Six charming
rides, six themed playscapes, and the Muddy Puddles Splash Pad, meet and greets with Peppa Pig herself, and her little brother George, as well as live shows in the canopied Mr. Potato's Showtime Arena and the chance to watch episodes of the beloved show while cooling off in the indoor Cinema round out a full day of fun.
