First SUPER NINTENDO WORLD in the US to open at Universal Studios Hollywood
UPER NINTENDO WORLD opened first at Universal Studios Japan to rave consumer and critical reviews in 2021.
In 2023 US the debut of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD at Universal Studios Hollywood will transport theme park guests and Nintendo fans into the world of Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach to become part of their compelling universe.
SUPER NINTENDO WORLD was conceived in partnership with Nintendo and the visionaries at Universal Creative to deliver exhilarating entertainment with innovative technological achievements inspired by characters and video games that have appealed to generations of Nintendo fans for over 40 years.
The immersive land will be a visual spectacle of vibrant colors and architectural ingenuity located
within a newly expanded area of the theme park, featuring a groundbreaking ride and interactive areas, to be enjoyed by the whole family. Themed shopping and dining will enhance the entire experience.
To mark the occasion as the countdown begins to the land’s exciting debut, Universal Studios Hollywood will unveil a takeover of its popular Feature Presentation retail store with SUPER NINTENDO WORLD theming, opening soon. Located just inside the theme park’s main entrance, guests will have a chance to share their excitement for the land’s 2023 arrival by gearing up with merchandise such as Mario and Luigi themed apparel and iconic character hats. Tornado Springs opens Installation of New Zealand’s biggest water slides underway
Five eel-inspired water slides have begun to reveal themselves at Christchurch’s Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre, with installation work now underway. The 32,000m2 indoor sports and aquatics facility is being delivered by Crown company Otakaro Limited and will be operated by Christchurch City Council. Otakaro Chief Executive, John Bridgman, says the slides range in height from nine to twelve metres and are made up of around 800 pieces of fibreglass. “It took ten shipping containers to get all the sections of the slides here, so it’s no surprise these are going to be the biggest and best indoor hydroslides in New Zealand. The trapdoor hydroslide, which sends riders hurtling down at around 40 kilometres per hour, will be a drawcard for the central city.” Swimplex Aquatics / Polin Australia & NZ Project Manager, Murray Booth, says the installation process is incredibly complex.
“In some places there are seven sections of hydroslide between the ground and the sky because of the way they exit, twist, drop, then re-enter Parakiore. It’s challenging work, but we’re lucky we get to build something that is solely being put here to bring joy into people’s lives.”
Otakaro, Christchurch City Council and Matapopore have worked closely on the design of the water slides.
