However, she notes that the industry’s recovery was linked to government support and how the pandemic was managed in each country. “In some there were more restrictions and in others less, and that made the difference in the reopening,” she says. Reyes notes that Colombia had incentives from the government and


continues to have them, which helped the industry to sustain itself while people were able to get out of confinement. In Brazil there were also incentives, but Mexico did not receive government aid and this contributed to a delay in the recovery, but one positive aspect is that very few businesses closed. Entrepreneurs managed to get ahead by themselves, but with the consequence that recovery was slower. What is remarkable is that most tried to conserve their human resources as much as possible. Reyes highlights the role of IAAPA,


which, on behalf of the industry, was one of the first organisations worldwide to issue a reopening guide. In this regard, she states: “The industry began to close in this
