Interactivo que informaron que sus instalaciones estarán cerradas temporalmente, con la aclaración de que los animales permanecerán bajo cuidado humano mientras se prolongue el cese de actividades. Igual determinación adoptó Kidzania, cuyas cuatro sedes en México cerraron


temporalmente sus puertas. Por su parte, el Grupo Xcaret anunció el cierre temporal de sus ocho


parques temáticos, así como el Hotel Xcaret México. La suspensión de actividades afecta a los parques Xcaret, Xel-Ha, Xplor, Xoximilco, Xenotes, Xplor Fuego, Xenxes y Xavage. Según cifras de la empresa, tan solo en el Parque Xcaret se registra una


asistencia diaria de entre seis y ocho mil visitantes en alta temporada. En la declaración oficial, los directivos expresaron “En Grupo Xcaret


hemos tomado las medidas necesarias para conservar la plantilla laboral que representa 13 mil familias. Hemos conversado con todos nuestros colaboradores y explicado los diferentes escenarios para darles certeza y claridad sobre las acciones a seguir. Debemos disminuir la incertidumbre en estos tiempos para que las personas se concentren en cuidarse. Agradecemos profundamente la respuesta y compromiso que hemos recibido de parte de todos y cada uno de nuestros colaboradores”. También Dolphin Discovery suspendió operaciones en todos sus definarios


y parques de México, Jamaica y Estados Unidos. Con anterioridad había cerrado sus instalaciones en Italia, Argentina, República Dominicana, Saint Kitts y Gran Cayman. La pausa estará vigente hasta el 3 de abril, pero podría extenderse, según anunció la empresa.

Mexico, Jamaica and the United States. Previously, it had closed its facilities in Italy, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Saint Kitts and Grand Cayman. The suspension will last until April 3th, but could be extended, the company announced.


Colombia The South American country is third in the regional ranking in terms of the number of amusement, theme and water parks. In the face of the emergency caused by Covid-19, the Colombian Association


of Attractions and Amusement Parks (Acolap) assumed representation for the sector and warned that the outlook for its associates is devastating. In an official statement, the executive director of Acolap, Angela Diaz, who


confirmed the cessation of operations of all the affiliated establishments: theme parks, family entertainment centers, bioparks, zoos, water parks, amusement parks, resorts and parks of the family compensation funds. The union leader revealed that the temporary closings affect 209 operations,


located in 24 departments and in 82 cities of the country, and put at risk around 5,000 jobs, of which 40% correspond to


young people between 18 and 25 years of age, who they find in this industry their first opportunity to join the work environment. The absence of income as a result of the closure


of the establishments and the expenses that continue their course, mean a very difficult situation for the parks, whose managers have calculated that they will stop receiving, altogether, around US $ 20 billion a month. This situation, for now, will be in


force until April 15. Acolap revealed that the sector had been


making large investments, in dollars, for the acquisition of new attractions, in an unprecedented commitment to tourism, as an anchor for the industry. This means that companies are bound to answer for high dollar credits, impossible to pay in the current circumstances.
