reigns, the Charleston Club, with its New York early 1900 style with gangsters and jazz club flavour, facing the Cinecittà Street, movie set of Martin Scorsese “Gangs of New York” featuring with Leonardo di Caprio and Cameron Diaz. Jurassic Bar completes the offering at Jurassic War Attraction, in the Adventureland area while both the Reign of the Ice and the new Aqua World offer themed kiosks. Street food is a growing trend therefore we equipped the park with 7 hand carts that move along the park according to the show schedule and the flow of the public.
PW: Describe your visitor base. SC: The Park is mostly, visited by families with kids from three years of age. Cinecittà World also appeals to elderly audiences because it immerse guests in the last century of Cinema history with film sets that relates to productions that arrived up to a hundred years ago. For example the spectacular entrance square features a Moloch God opening his mouth. This set refers to the movie Cabiria, a 1920 colossal black and white mute film. 90% of the public is Italian, coming mostly from the
central regions (Rome, Lazio, Campania…) while among the 10% of international tourists we host guests, in decreasing order, coming from US, UK, Germany, France, China and Russia.
PW: Do you offer live shows and events - if so, how important are they in terms of boosting visitor numbers? SC: Cinecittà World offers six different shows daily, which are replicated at least twice during the day. We start with the Welcome show, in the Cinecittà
Street, the New York street that transforms itself in a rowdy little Italy. The high noon show at FarWest features a typical fight between the good and the bad, struggling for the love of the most beautiful lady of the Old West Town. The main outdoor show is “Motori, ciak …azione!”
(the sequence that starts a movie scene) a stunt show, with cars, trucks and motorbikes, inspired by world famous action movies, while the main indoor show is named “Viva L’Italia” and consists of a 30” live musical show, that summarize some of the best songs, music and ballets solely Made in Italy. More than boosting visitors numbers we observe
that shows help us to enrich the visit for our guests, increase their dwell time and prove to be a good

backup for bad weather days when people tend to avoid outdoor attractions. The welcome show helps us also to spread out a good energy hat guest retain for the whole day.
PW: Tell me about the two new sites you have planned. How long have they been in the pipeline for, at what stage of development are they? SC: Thanks to the turnaround of the Park in the last three years we are now cash positive and the park is ready for future growth and development. We will enrich the main theme linked to the world
of Cinema (Cine World), the movie-to-theme-park- experience, which is the DNA of our actual Cinecittà World park, with two brand new worlds: Aqua World and Roma World. The 2020-2022 plan, recently approved by the
Board opens therefore a new phase: a 3+ years development plan that will include the launch of two new Parks, 2 new “Worlds” that will rise next to the existing Cinecittà World Park, that covers 30 hectares, built on an available area overall area of 150ha. These parks will be smaller (around 5 hectares
each) and secondary to the main offering, their scope to enrich the offering for increasingly demanding audiences that look for engaging and meaningful experiences, where to immerse themselves as the protagonist of the stories narrated. Aqua World will add water-based experiences
and summer fun. We expect it in three years to become Cinecittà World’s Water Park, spanning over 45.000 m2. The first stage of it will be released
in summer this year, including a 1.700 m2 movie themed swimming Pool (Cinepiscina) with a maxi- screen nestled on the water, where to dive, watch movies and contents immersed in the water, a
250mts Lazy River (Paradiso) where to be lulled on the stream, immersed in nature and a sand beach (Phuket Beach) with Thai based atmospheres, nature and typical flavours inspired by the movie “The Beach” with Leonardo di Caprio, done in cooperation with the Thailand tourism authority. Roma World consists of an outdoor ancient Roman
Village and legionaries Camp that lies in the typical Roman countryside surrounded by woods and nature. It will bring guests back 2000 years! In this park guests will feel the real contact with nature, they will live, dress, eat, shop, sleep and…fight as the ancient Romans used to do. They will become Gladiator for a day, enjoy shopping among stalls of the ancient market, gain a special relationship with the farm animals, admire the flight of the eagle and other spectacular birds of prey, run on the original Ben Hur Movie Chariots, immerse themselves into the cork forest and live unique experiences ... where the empire began.
PW: Will they be an exact rollout of the brand or will they be slightly different, if so why? SC: Roma World is due to open to the public by May 16. Aqua World, as I said, will open a phase 1 already this summer, but we expect to complete the whole waterpark by 2022. We will of course keep working on the
development of Cinecittà World in order to improve the park, that is very young and still uncompleted, and to develop on the long term a full destination
resort that will add a reason for the future tourists to visit Rome.
PW: As a business, how are you coping with the current pandemic? SC: The period we are living has no comparison with previous crisis or similar situations. It will modify and reduce our social behaviours for a while but will not stop the need for humans to do something together, as we all are social beings, we all need to share emotions and experiences because this enriches our lives. As theme parks we must put safety first and
originate all our decisions from this. Finally when the Covid-19 cris over I think people will keep some of the good health and sanitary habits learned in these months, but at the same time will want to celebrate together the return to normal life.
