Ride Profile

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Tampa, Florida, has introduced Tigris, a triple-launch steel Sky Rocket II roller coaster from Premier Rides. The new attraction is Florida’s tallest launch coaster and the ninth coaster in the park’s collection. North American editor, Paul Ruben reports…

Spectacular Views “We are proud of the legacy we’ve built as we have welcomed millions of thrill-seekers from around the world to the Tampa Bay area,” says Stewart Clark, Park president & general manager for Busch Gardens Tampa Bay & Adventure Island. “Tigris is the perfect addition to our unrivaled collection of adrenaline- pumping attractions.” That’s because Tigris is different from any other coaster in the park. “As we

add new attractions, we take an objective look at our current offering to see where we can expand,” Clark explains. “Our most recent addition before Tigris was Cobra’s Curse, a spinning ride designed for families, so we were looking to create a new experience to appeal to our thrill-seekers. The intensity of Tigris features a unique forward-and-backward launch sequence that our guests in

Florida have not seen from us before.” “It’s an intense high thrill experience on an incredibly smooth track,” promises Jim Seay, President of Premier Rides, “with forward and backward launches,

vertical twists and hang-time rolls that pack in a lot of nonstop excitement. Also you get the added bonus of spectacular views from the top as you travel through the heartline roll.”

LegendaryCoasters

Tigris catapults riders through an array of looping twists with forward and backward motion, breath-taking drops, a 150-foot (46 m) skyward surge, and an inverted heartline roll, reaching a top speed of 62 mph (100 kph). Tigris will race riders both forwards and backwards, along 863 feet (263 m) of steel track designed to mimic the awe-inspiring agility of the world’s largest and most powerfulcat – the tiger. “When our guests ride Tigris, they’re surprised by how dynamic the experience

is,” Clark observes. “All these thrills packed into a compact coaster make for one exciting ride. I’ve experienced the coaster multiple times! The heartline roll at the top of Tigris is my favorite moment of the ride.”
