The questions referred to the Jubilee Casino, in Naucalpan, State of Mexico, which is already known as “the largest and most modern casino in Latin America,” and is being built, according to a presentation, with an irregular permit granted by the (State) municipal presidency, and which apparently was ratified by the Ministry of the Interior (Segob) at the time, senator Adán Augusto López.
It is important to note that the brief response by the Mexican president was to the following presentation that carried three questions:
“Today, in Naucalpan, on Periférico (road) and next to the Capital City of the country, what has been called “the largest and most modern casino in Latin America” is being built and is about to be inaugurated, called Jubilee Casino, and is owned by the Saidé family, from Nuevo León. “It is known that, in the past the PAN municipal administration of Naucalpan, headed by Angélica Moya Marín, authorized, in June 2022, the operating permit for the construction and operation of this casino without having legal powers to do so, and this is a fact. Currently, Naucalpan’s current municipal government has filed a criminal complaint against the former mayor
for the crime of abuse of authority.
“Madam President, if the opening of this huge casino takes place, it would be the first of its kind to open in times of the Fourth Transformation. This, despite the fact that the head of the Ministry of the Interior has reiterated on several occasions that they are not granting any permits for this type of business. And here I am going to ask you three questions on the same subject.” And the three questions posed to Mexico’s president had the simple reply reported lines above. During his term, in March 2023, AMLO issued a decree prohibiting new licenses for casinos in the country, and even revoking permits issued since his election to the presidency of Mexico, on December 1, 2018.
