iguiendo tres eventos en la región, desde SAGSE Centroamérica & Caribe en Panamá, siguiendo con SBC Summit Americas en Fort Lauderdale, Florida, EEUU, (que es muy latinoamericana), se nos viene la Cumbre Iberoamericana del Juego en Lima, Perú, mientras vamos a imprenta, los días 27 y 28, y creo que muchos nos quedaremos en la Lima de mis amores hasta el PGS 2025, para disfrutar de su deliciosa gastronomía.
Eso sí, sea en Lima, Panamá o Florida, seguiremos tratando el tema de la ley de casinos en Brasil, donde según los últimos reportes, el Senado se apresta a votar ley de casinos con el viso del presidente Lula, pues el Gobierno ve una oportunidad para recaudar US$3.884M anuales en impuestos, porque el proyecto de ley PL 2234/22, que permite casinos, bingo y jogo do bicho aumentará los ingresos del gobierno y ya fue aprobado en la Cámara de Diputados el año pasado, sigue estancado en el Senado.
Según últimos informes, ya existe un acuerdo del Gobierno con el presidente de la Cámara de Senadores, Davi Alcolumbre, con la promesa de ratificación por parte del presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, para que la Ley de Casinos sea una realidad en Brasil. En Ft. Lauderdale, el senador Irajá, relator del PL dijo confiar que el presidente del Senado y espera someter a
votación el PL en el Pleno del Senado brasileño este semestre para legalizar juegos de azar en Brasil por contar con los 41 votos necesarios para su aprobación.
Aunque a la fecha, la región sigue poniéndose en orden, porque Paraguay ya termino con los monopolios en la industria y ha sacado una nueva ley, que reportamos líneas abajo, y que tiene todo el apoyo de la Asociación Paraguaya de Operadores de Juegos de Azar (Apoja), desde donde su presidenta Lorena Rojas, destacó que se trata de un avance significativo para el sector, pues el rubro se encontraba operando en un marco legal obsoleto.
Y ahora, seguimos rumbo a Lima donde el PGS 2025 acogerá a mas de 60 expositores y espera unos 8000 visitantes durante los días 19 y 20 de junio. ¡Allá nos vemos!

n May we have three events in the region, from SAGSE Central America & Caribbean in Panama, continuing with SBC Summit Americas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, (which is very Latin American), and now the Ibero-American Gaming Summit coming up in Lima, Peru on the 27th and 28th, while we go to press. We believe that many of us will stay in that Lima everyone loves until PGS 2025 in mid-June, to enjoy the country’s delicious gastronomy.
Of course, whether in Lima, Panama or Florida, we are debating the issue of Brazil’s casino law. According to the latest reports, the Senate Plenary is preparing to vote on Bill PL 2234/22 with the approval of President Lula, as the Government sees an opportunity to collect US$3,884M per year in taxes. The bill, which enables gambling operations in casinos, bingos, as well as the illegal street numbers lotto, Jogo do bicho, will increase government revenues and was already approved in the House of Representatives last year, and now it remains gathering dust in the Senate. According to the latest reports from Brazil, there is already an agreement between the Government and the President of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre, with the promise of ratification by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to make the Casino Law a reality in Brazil. Senator Irajá, proposer of PL 2234/22, said that he is confident that the Senate president
will schedule voting on the PL in the Senate Plenary this semester to legalize gambling in Brazil, and estimates that the bill has the 41 votes in the Senate, necessary for its approval.
Further down westwards in the region, the industry continues to get its house in order. Paraguay has just ended industry monopolies in the country and has passed a new law, as reported below. This law has the full support of the Paraguayan Association of Gambling Operators (Apoja), with its president Lorena Rojas stressing that this is a significant advance for the sector, as it was operating in an obsolete legal framework.
And now, we are heading to Lima where PGS 2025 will host more than 60 exhibitors and anticipates about 8000 visitors during June 19 and 20. See you all, there!
