legamos al Centro de Convenciones del Hotel Windsor Barra, en la carioquísima capital social brasileña, al inicio del SBC Summit Rio, el 5 de marzo y nos vimos envueltos en una multitud que culebreaba ante las mesas de registro para el evento, y al instante nos dimos cuenta de que este había excedido las proyecciones de todos, y que la naciente industria brasileña de apuestas deportivas y juego online tiene visos de grandes oportunidades y que en efecto va a desbordar también los pronósticos financieros para este sector. El desborde del SBC Rio no se detenía en registros y seguía hacia los pabellones donde la gran mayoría de los stands cumplía con su propia agenda y algo más, uno se imagina. Después de las reuniones de la mañana, conversamos con Cristian Robalino, director de SBC para Latinoamerica, quien nos manifestó que el local ha resultado pequeño para el evento y que el SBC Summit Rio se mudaba a Riocentro, el espacio para eventos más importante de la ciudad, para aumentar la capacidad a 10.000 profesionales del sector y no menos de 400 expositores y patrocinadores, del 25 al 27 de febrero de 2025.
Mientras tanto en Colombia, Coljuegos avanzaba en la construcción de los reglamentos para los juegos localizados por internet, Keno y colorball de Baloto, y la forma de formalizar unas 100.000 máquinas tragamonedas, llamándolas “Máquinas para la paz”, estarían dejando de transferir más de US$76 millones anuales al sector Salud. Esto, antes de inmenso trabajo del ente regulador, que días después ofrecía su reporte para el 2023, como se puede leer líneas abajo. Y como se puede leerá líneas abajo, también, Perú ha iniciado el proceso regulatorio del juego remoto ¡en gran forma! Mas al sur, Bolivia, tampoco se queda atrás, y en audiencia de Rendición Pública de Cuentas Final 2023, el Director Ejecutivo de la Autoridad de Fiscalización del Juego, Marco Antonio Sánchez Vaca, reportó que las empresas y negocios del juego entregaron más de US$72.5 millones en premios. e arrived at the Convention Center of the Windsor Barra Hotel at the start of the SBC Summit Rio on March 5, and were surrounded by a crowd that snaked in front of the registration area for the event. It was
instantly obvious that the Summit had exceeded everyone’s projections, and that the nascent Brazilian sports betting and online gaming industry was full of great opportunities that in fact will exceed financial forecasts for this sector. The overflow of the SBC Summit Rio did not just stop at registrations, it flowed towards the stands where most exhibitors were busy attending visitors and doing business, one imagines. After the morning meetings, we spoke with Cristian Robalino, SBC’s director for Latin America, who told us that the venue has been too small for the event and that SBC Summit Rio was moving next year to Riocentro, the most important event space in the city, to increase capacity to accommodate 10,000
professionals and no less than 400 exhibitors and sponsors on February 25-27, 2025.
