POLISHED CHROME & BRUSHED BRASS Stephen Johnson

Quooker

BKU’s Matt Broughton spoke with Stephen Johnson, Managing Director at Quooker UK & Ireland.

“ A

s we wrap up the first half of 2024, I am both proud and humbled by

Quooker’s journey,” says Quooker UK & Ireland MD, Stephen Johnson. “We’ve introduced new finishes to our product portfolio, celebrated growth with newly renovated showrooms in Manchester and Dublin and won significant industry and employee awards.” In 2024 the company also reached a significant

milestone of 600,000 Quooker’s installed nationwide thanks to the unwavering support of its partners: “Their dedication has been instrumental in propelling Quooker’s journey forward, and we deeply appreciate their continued collaboration.” When it comes to the diversity of Quooker’s

range, Stephen believes it’s this varied portfolio that allows retailers to provide customers with different style options that complement individual- specific kitchen schemes: “Quooker is continuously pushing the boundaries of design and innovation. We take pride in our collection of award-winning products that offer a diverse range of styles and finishes.”

Polished Chrome & Brushed Brass All Quooker finishes offer premium form and function; designed to enhance iconic tap silhouettes and deliver outstanding durability. Polished chrome is available across six of Quooker’s seven ranges: Flex, Fusion, Classic Fusion, Nordic Twintaps and the Nordic single tap. A sought-after finish in kitchen design, polished chrome offers a timeless look. High-shine, Polished Chrome gives a bright reflective mirror finish. Resistant to oxidation and scratch-resistant, it is an obvious choice for those looking for a neutral alternative. Stephen comments: “Brass is an ideal choice

for customers looking for warmth in their kitchen. The Quooker Fusion and Classic Fusion ranges are both available in our Patinated Brass. Patina is a layer that develops on brass due to oxidation. With age and exposure, the surface and texture of the brass is altered giving a unique aesthetic to every tap. This natural process resulting in a sophisticated antique appearance, means that the tap becomes both a practical kitchen appliance and a bespoke ornament.” There are plenty of other companies in the space Quooker originally occupied. I ask Stephen

what he thinks still gives Quooker the edge over its competitors? “As the original and true 100-degree boiling water tap brand on the market, Quooker leads the way when it comes to sector leading technology and design.

Quooker leads the way when it comes to sector leading technology and design

“Founded in 1970, Henri Peteri’s innovative

concept of a boiling water tap is now one of the most used kitchen appliances for millions of households worldwide. Continuing Henri’s vision, Quooker remains committed to delivering unique and innovative taps with patinated designs, providing a world class customer service and working environment for employees to ensure that we remain ahead of our competitors.”

Sustainability On the matter of sustainability, Quooker taps have been designed to be incredibly energy efficient, utilising patented high-vacuum insulated tank technology. Unlike traditional kettles, which use 2,200 watts to boil 1.7 litres of water, Quooker taps only use 10 watts per day to keep water ready to use. The tank only replenishes the water used, resulting in low standby power consumption and earning Quooker the best energy rating in Europe (A-rating). Thanks to the Quooker CUBE, taps fitted with

this accessory can now dispense sparkling and chilled water. Considering the average household

uses 360 single-use plastic bottles per year, CUBE is saving a considerable amount of waste going to landfill. “To break the cycle of over-consumption,

we have made it our mission to provide our customers with high-quality products that stand the test of time,” says Stephen. “Quooker taps typically last between 10 and 15 years, with world-class maintenance delivered by a dedicated team guaranteeing a reliable and prompt service. “Our HQ premises are covered with 900 solar

panels which supply all our energy needs. In our Return and Recover departments, we collect and recycle consumables and manage waste flows in a sustainable way, in compliance with the WEEE (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Act. All our account managers were migrated to Tesla cars and our engineers have been switched to VN5 electric vans in partnership with the London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) reducing CO2 emissions by 36.6 tonnes per van over five years.” The future for Quooker is driven by a simple

moto, “to be better today than we were yesterday.” Stephen elaborates: “This approach, coupled with our world-class product and customer service, means we are continuously growing and pushing the boundaries within the industry. As we look ahead to the remainder of 2024 and beyond, we will remain committed to continuously developing and improving our products to reach our overall company objective; suppling every home in the UK & Ireland with a Quooker tap.”
