I
n the first half of 2024, things were a little tough for Claygate - similar to the
last 6 months of 2023 - but the company has recently started to see a positive shift. Marketing Director, Dionne Banks explains: “Initially, the economic climate, fluctuating costs and market conditions presented hurdles that tested us, and like everyone supply chain disruptions has been a concern but overall, we have fared reasonably well with our stock holding. “Looking ahead, we are more optimistic about
the rest of 2024. The momentum we are gaining now gives us confidence for some solid and sustained growth and we are dedicated to continuing this upward trajectory by evolving our product offerings and maintaining our focus on customer service.” The biggest development for Claygate in 2024
was its strategic expansion into new geographical areas coupled with the addition of key sales staff. Recognising the potential for growth in untapped markets, the company meticulously planned and executed an expansion strategy that has significantly widened its footprint. This expansion was complemented by a
deliberate effort to strengthen Claygate’s sales team with experienced sales professionals who brought with them a wealth of industry knowledge and a passion for customer service. I ask Dionne what she sees are paramount for success right now: “To excel in the bathroom
industry right now, it’s important to remain flexible with up-to-the minute understanding of the changes in the market,” she says. “You need to have your ears to the ground and act quicker on the information you receive. This involves not just staying abreast of design trends but also offering functional, high-quality products that enhance the customer’s experience. Launching a new website in 2022 was a breakthrough, significantly boosting our online presence and customer engagement.”

We work closely with our partners to ensure a steady supply of quality products and collaborate with our customers to understand their needs and tailor our services accordingly.”
Dionne has noted a growing demand for
sustainable and eco-friendly products: “Suppliers are introducing more recycled materials, and products with a lower environmental impact. Brands that offer green solutions are gaining a competitive edge as consumers become more environmentally conscious. “The integration of smart technology in
bathrooms has already become a significant trend. It’s a trend that seems to be here to say. There has been an increase in smart showers, touchless options, and intelligent toilets that offer features such as water-saving modes, automatic temperature control, and enhanced hygiene. The convenience and efficiency provided by these smart solutions continue to drive their popularity. “There’s a heightened emphasis on personal
wellness and self-care. Homeowners are investing in creating spa-like bathroom retreats to promote relaxation and well-being with the focus on creating a serene, luxurious environment at home. “These trends reflect the evolving preferences
of consumers who are looking for innovative, sustainable, and personalised bathroom solutions that enhance their daily living experiences.” As for the remainder of the year, Claygate has
plans to introduce several new OEM product lines, along with new ranges from its trusted brands. Dionne adds, “building on the success of our website, we plan to further enhance our digital presence and expand our online marketing efforts.”
