Hardy Signs eyes new work after boosting efficiency with Bubble-Free Pro

fter installing the Bubble-Free Pro flatbed applicator, Hardy Signs has seen an improvement in overall efficiency allowing the company to take on new work and projects. When new general manager Brian Cook joined the business in June last year, one of his first tasks was to improve efficiency and develop the process of manufacturing signs.
Internal discussions led Mr Cook to meet with the team at Soyang Hardware, from which the company had purchased several other machines. From here, it was soon decided that Hardy Signs would take on a brand-new Bubble-Free Pro flatbed applicator.
Capable of mounting and laminating a wide range of materials up to
60mm thick, the Bubble-Free Pro can be supplied in three sizes, offering maximum working widths of 1,450mm, 1,640mm and 2,140mm. The machine can be operated by one member of staff from either side, offering excellent flexibility to the user.
Mr Cook said: “The new machine enables us to laminate various materials; we’re able to apply tape products more easily and it has reduced the bottle neck on the existing roller laminator. “On top of this is the quality of work we can now produce, as well as reduced contamination and the ability to weed out items more effectively.
“The installation team was very efficient in getting the machine into our vinyl room. The trainer was able to

demonstrate the machine to eight of our team, who soon picked up the basic principles.”
Having been up and running for several months now, the team at Hardy Signs has used the machine across a range of work including to laminate UV printed ACM panels and vinyl prints, as well as to apply tape to Foamex panels and to weed out excess vinyl and application tape from pieces.

arket Harborough-based VMGS Installations has recently upgraded its capabilities with the acquisition of a state-of-the-art JWEI JCUT-3230 digital cutting table from CMYUK.
This investment reflects the company’s commitment to adapting to its customers’ evolving demands and managing increased workloads efficiently. The new JWEI JCUT-3230 has been seamlessly integrated into VMGS’ daily operations alongside its existing smaller Kongsberg cutting table. This combination ensures increased throughput without bottlenecks or delays, making it an ideal solution for the company’s growing production demands.

As with all JWEI installations, training on the new digital cutter was carried out by CMYUK, with VMGS’ highly experienced operator, Tim Reeves, and recent team member, Maria Bland, undergoing a three-day training session. With this new investment from CMYUK,
VMGS’ future strategy is clear: to position itself as a trusted, premium partner rather than just another supplier. Mr Mardon added: “Our goal is to handle 75% of all our top customers’ work, providing exceptional value and meeting the most complex demands.” Founded in 2019 by industry veterans, Ken Mardon and Mark McIntyre, VMGS offers POS, signage, shop fitting, merchandising, vehicle, and race graphics, among other services.
