Matic and Kavalan announce new strategic partnership

M

atic has gone into partnership with Kavalan in hopes

of setting the standard in sustainable textile finishing. The company is a manufacturer of cutting, welding, and sewing equipment solutions for the textile sector and is committed to its development of social, environmental and economic goals. Upon seeing Kavalan’s range of PVC-free materials, both companies thought their products would complement one another.

Matic’s area manager, Pascal Goiran, said: “We were immediately impressed by their commitment to creating high-quality sustainable products and

promoting the reduction of resource consumption and environmental impact.” Kavalan approached Matic to suggest they trial and evaluate its new industrial textiles, as well as some of the wide-format digital printing materials; a challenge that Matic gladly accepted. Mr Goiran continued: “We used the Matic Perseo 4000 Impulse to weld Kavalan’s Sunlight Weldable and industrial fabric. Additionally, we used the Cronos 4.0 to sew Kavalan’s SEG material, Moonlight River. “I am delighted to say the results were flawless. What impressed me the most was that Kavalan’s innovative textiles welded perfectly with our Perseo 4000 Impulse in just three seconds,

compared to the seven seconds typically required for traditional PVC materials. This is truly remarkable.” Nova Abbott, head of marketing, at Kavalan, said: “Working with Matic has been a fantastic experience, and we at Kavalan are thrilled by the positive outcome and successful trialling of our PVC-free materials on the Matic welding and sewing equipment. “Matic’s company principles of symbiosis and shared prosperity are a perfect embodiment of the similar mindset and approach to the market that our businesses have in common, with a strong focus on delivering what our customers need innovatively and sustainably.”

Hybrid Services announces new Mimaki printers to its markets

ybrid Services has introduced two new Mimaki direct to textile and

dye sublimation printers, the Tx330-1800 and Tx330-1800B, to the UK and Irish markets. The printer series offers extensive textile printing capabilities on a variety of materials with minimal wastewater. In contrast to conventional textile printing processes that require pre- and post-processing equipment, the Tx330 Series streamlines production into a more space-efficient solution. The printers are equipped with dual ink set capability to switch between textile pigment and dye sublimation inks, further

diversifying application possibilities. The Tx330-1800 allows for seamless printing on both fabric and paper in one machine, ideal when producing textile signage and interior fabrics.

Arjen Evertse, general manager of sales EMEA at Mimaki Europe, said: “Looking at today’s textile market, we anticipate that the demand for textile products produced on-demand and locally will continue to grow.

“So, with that in mind, we released two products which are easy-to-use, versatile and sustainable, for those printers looking to incorporate textile printing capabilities within a small space, without compromising on capabilities and quality.”

The Tx330-1800 Series utilises Mimaki’s 330 engine, providing the same sharp details, smooth colouring and accurate colour printing as other entries in the 330 Series due to smooth gradation expression and high-density printing capabilities. Both printers will be available for the textile and apparel market in June 2025.

Premier enhances sustainability efforts with solar panel installation across UK branches

A | 10 | March/April 2025

number of solar panels have been installed across several Premier branches as part of the

distributor’s ongoing commitment to sustainable business practices. This initiative marks a significant step towards reducing the company’s carbon footprint, with installations expected to be completed by the end of 2025. The transition to clean, renewable energy will allow Premier to power its operations in a more environmentally friendly manner,

aligning with the UK’s broader push towards a greener economy.

The solar installations on its first five of its 18 locations, once fully operational, are projected to generate more than 547,500 kWh of electricity annually. This shift will significantly reduce Premier’s dependency on non-renewable energy sources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and avoid over 257 tonnes of CO2 annually, helping the company reach its ambitious environmental goals.
