Monobloc model runs on R290 refrigerant

Last year saw Ideal Heating launch the Logic Air heat pump and the company has now furthered its low carbon product range with the HP290 monobloc heat pump, the fi rst domestic heat pump from Ideal Heating to run on the R290 refrigerant, which has low environmental impact and global warming potential. Designed to be simple and easy to install and

maintain, when paired with Ideal’s pre-plumbed hot water cylinder and Halo Lite RF thermostat, the HP290 is said to provide a complete low carbon heating package. Compatible with radiator and underfl oor heating,

alongside intuitive controls, the HP290 off ers fast reheat times when coupled with Ideal’s heat pump cylinder range. The control box acts as the hub for the system and brings all of the electrical components together in one central location. Lizzie Wilkinson, product director (domestic) at Ideal

Heating, says: “Our HP290 heat pump follows many of the same principles as our popular Logic Air. In all of our products, we want installers to enjoy working with them, and for them to be simple to install, maintain and service.” ◼ phamnews.co.uk/624/43

Combined heat pump and cylinder

Available in left or right-handed versions, the Juniper HP Plus from Modutherm integrates an air source heat pump with a stainless steel cylinder for effi cient hot water production. The product is said to represent an ideal solution for electric- only residential or light commercial projects. For larger properties, or where there’s a need for additional domestic hot water, multiple Juniper HP Plus water heaters can be installed in parallel. The fl oor-standing unit uses

R290 refrigerant and is available in 200- and 300-litre capacities with handed front/side-mounted water connections to facilitate straightforward integration with pipework affi xed to an adjacent wall, ensuring symmetry in pipework installation. Juniper HP Plus can be

controlled locally with the large touchscreen, or remotely via the Smart Life app, making it easy to confi gure and manage. Under standard test conditions, the water heater can achieve a CoP of up to 3.80, while advanced software means that it will automatically calculate and analyse its current operating conditions and then adjust the power input to achieve an optimal CoP. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/624/44

New hybrid solution will help to avoid disruption

The CS5800i Hybrid Heat Pump is the latest heating solution from Worcester Bosch. Co-created with installers’ input and built for speed and simplicity, the new product pairs the company’s CS5800i heat pump with an intelligent hybrid unit, designed to ensure that the customer’s home remains cosy and comfortable, while adapting to their needs. The hybrid system means that the heat pump will be in operation to meet everyday heating needs, but will automatically switch to the boiler when extra heat is required. Designed for hassle-free

installation without the need for extensive system upgrades, the CS5800i Hybrid Heat Pump is said to represent a signifi cant step forward in responsible home

heating solutions by combining effi ciency, versatility, and ease of use. Martyn Bridges, director of

technical services at Worcester Bosch, comments: “The way we heat our homes needs to be fl exible if we are to reach our net zero targets and heat pumps will certainly play a huge part in this. However, many homeowners are put off by the disruption and cost retrofi tting properties to

accommodate the technology. “This is where hybrid

systems can make their mark. By combining a heat pump with a boiler homeowners will ultimately see less disruption and also won’t need to adapt to a new way of heating their homes. We hope the CS5800i helps homeowners across the UK make the shift to low-carbon home heating.” ◼ phamnews.co.uk/624/45

Water pump could reduce consumption

Extending its range of water pressure boosting pumps, Stuart Turner has launched Stormboost. Designed for domestic properties, it connects directly to the mains water supply, increasing mains water pressure by up to 2.5 bar and delivering a maximum output fl ow rate of 12 litres per minute. Compact in size, it has automatic on/off switching, anti-vibration hoses, anti- vibration foot for quiet operation, an on/off power indicator light and a fi ve-year extended warranty. Dominic Hill, CEO for Stuart

Turner Group, says: “We know from recent research that increased water pressure

New fi restop solutions for plumbing applications

Building on its expertise in supplying intumescent fi re and smoke seals to the door and glazing sector, Norseal has now applied this knowledge to a line of fi restopping solutions specifi cally designed for the plumbing industry. A key highlight is the range of pipe collars and wraps, which are purpose-built for creating compliant apertures in walls, fl oors, or ceilings through which pipework can safely pass. The Norseal FireStopping

range includes products designed to fi t snugly around pipes that

penetrate concrete and masonry walls and fl oors. These have been engineered to reinstate the fi re resistance of various structures and are particularly useful for the pipes found in soil, waste, drainage, and HVAC systems. Designed for easy installation,

the products come in a broad array of sizes to fi t multiple

plumbing applications. Norseal’s pipe wraps contain

Pyroplex intumescent graphite within a self-adhesive sleeve, suitable for pipes ranging from 55 to 160mm. These require no secondary fi xings, allowing easy installations in tight corners or against walls. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/624/47

higher, less water is used as the shower is turned off earlier. “Showers are the largest user

of water across the home, with £2.3 billion spent annually on heating water for showers across Britain. Water is a precious commodity, and it’s projected that England will face a water supply shortfall of 4 billion litres daily by 2050. “Using a water boosting

across the home can help to reduce water consumption, and in turn energy consumption. Although water pressure is

pump such as Stormboost will help consumers to reduce their water and energy, and in turn save them money while helping to reduce household water consumption targets from 144 litres to 110 litres per person per day.” ◼ phamnews.co.uk/624/46
