The industry’s biggest networking event
The InstallerSHOW 2024 will open its doors to visitors on 25th June, running for three days at the NEC in Birmingham. Over 600 exhibitors will be showcasing their products and services across two of the exhibition venue’s biggest halls and there’s also an extensive programme of lectures, demonstrations and celebrity appearances. Read on to find out what to expect at this year’s show.
S
ince launching in 2015, the InstallerSHOW has expanded from its original focus on the
heating and plumbing sector to cover all things to do with heat, water, air and energy. Organisers are expecting over 20,000 to visit over the three days of the event, attracted by the opportunity to get up to speed with the latest advances in the industry, learn about market trends and also take advantage of numerous prize winning competitions and product giveaways.
Installer Plaza One of the most popular features of the show, the InstallerPLAZA, will take place in the heart of Hall 5 and will provide a platform for installers to meet up, discuss industry issues and enjoy some hospitality. This year, the InstallerPLAZA is sponsored by Vaillant. As well as staging a live podcast and showcasing the latest developments in its Aspire heat pump range, the company will be inviting installers to help celebrate the brand’s 150th anniversary with some live music, plus free food and drink.
Installer Trades A new dedicated tools and workwear zone, InstallerTRADES is designed to give visitors the chance to see the latest products in action, and to hear from tradespeople trying them out live at the show. The tool demo area will feature some of the latest innovations from leading tool manufacturers, while a purpose-built catwalk will provide an opportunity to see some of the on-trend workwear designs modelled by trade professionals and some familiar faces from social media.
Installer Invent Making its return this year,
this section of the show provides a dedicated area for industry start-ups and small businesses to demonstrate their product innovations and ground-breaking inventions. Giving a glimpse into the future, this area of the show could be the place to discover a time saving solution or an ingenious installation device.
Installer Futures Aimed at inspiring the next generation, InstallerFUTURES is designed to provide students and apprentices with a meaningful and structured visit to the show. The programme includes a series of presentations delivered by a mix of installers, industry insiders and manufacturers, while students will be encouraged to tour the show and visit the areas of most interest to them. Local colleges and training centres have been offered transport to the NEC and learners will be accompanied by their course leaders.
Kitchens & Bathrooms Making its debut at this year’s event, Installer Kitchens & Bathrooms will offer a packed content programme across two theatres covering topics such as water and energy efficiency design innovation and smart technology. There will be a dedicated space for networking opportunities, providing a chance to engage with top suppliers, designers, merchants and fellow installers. Also featured will be a 4Gen kitchen concept, a collaboration between award- winning designer Johnny Grey and expert on ageing, Professor Peter Gore.
Elemental Arena Sponsored by Heat Geek, the elemental Arena will play host to politicians, celebrities and the industry’s leading experts on the decarbonisation of buildings. Speakers include
Chris Skidmore OBE, the author of the Mission Zero report, discussing what needs to be done for the country to meet its net zero targets, and Greg Jackson on energy innovation. There will also be a keynote speech from Lord Callanan, minister for energy efficiency and green finance, plus a debate on heat pumps and efficiency featuring Heat Geek’s Adam Chapman and writer and broadcaster Roger Bisby.
Housing Hub The elemental Housing Hub is the place to hear talks on decarbonising existing homes and more sustainable new build developments. The National Home Improvement Council will be running a session on the Building Safety Act, and there will be an inspiring panel discussion from the Welsh government’s housing decarbonisation team sharing insights from its Optimised RetroFit programme.
Climate Solutions The Climate Solutions theatre is another new addition to this year’s show, a space where sustainable heating and cooling will be the main focus, alongside heating and cooling issues. The theatre will be hosting several events for World Refrigeration Day on Wednesday 26th June and on the following day the focus will be on inclusion and diversity, with several panels showcasing the work of women in the sector.
Solar Innovations With a focus on solar PV and solar thermal systems, the Solar Innovations zone combines technical information on both the present and future of the sector with hands-on demonstrations on the latest technology, as well as sessions looking at battery storage and the relationship between heat pumps and solar.
Future of Water Presented in collaboration with the Bathroom Manufacturers Association, the Future of Water will be staged at the BMA Theatre. It will serve as a platform for installers, retailers, designers, manufacturers, and specifiers in the bathroom sector to discuss the issue of water use and conservation. Attendees can expect presentations, panel debates and exclusive interviews on topics ranging from the use of digital solutions to the question of whether plumbers should be licensed.
Installer Awards The winners of the 2024 Heating Installer Awards will be revealed at the InstallerPLAZA at 1pm on the second day of the show. Now in its ninth year, the Awards are designed to recognise the achievements and talents of plumbers and heating installers across the country, with the ultimate winner to be selected from the 13 regional winners already announced. There will also be separate awards to be presented to the winners from a shortlist of ‘rising stars’ and installers dedicated to promoting sustainability.
Installer Merit Taking place at the end of the first day of the show, the InstallerMERIT is an awards
evening that provides an opportunity to recognise tradespeople who are doing amazing work in their communities, often for little or no personal gain. After the presentations, there will also be the opportunity to watch an exclusive screening of England vs. Slovenia and network while enjoying some hard-earned refreshments.
More celebrities A number of celebrity guests are set to visit this year’s event. The star turns include Deborah Meaden talking net zero in the Elemental Arena, Rachel Riley discussing careers in STEM for women, and George Clarke giving his thoughts on renewable technologies. There will also be an opportunity to put your dart throwing skills to the test by going up against World Darts Number One Luke Humphries on the InstallerPLAZA or talking football with England legend Terry Butcher.
