We catch up with Mike Botto of Spire Technology who talks about partnerships and the future.
Can you provide an overview of Spire’s role and presence in the tech channel? Spire Technology has been a distributor of IT hardware for over 30 years and I’m proud to have been a part of the company for over half of that. At our inception we were a distributor for Atari but nowadays work with the likes of Asus, Corsair, TP-Link and many other flagship brands. We are strictly trade only and work with an average of 1200
resellers a month who vary vastly in terms of spend and size but all receive the same first-class treatment. Oh, and we’re the PCR Specialist Distributor of the Year!
How has the channel evolved over the years, and what are the key drivers? Inevitably, e-commerce has grown significantly with large grossing websites dominating a lot of market share these days. You don’t need me to tell you that in this industry you’re only ever a short time away from the next big launch from the likes of AMD, Intel or NVidia and with that comes a rush for new components to support

those. In addition, we’re fortunate to work with a host of brands who bring new technologies to market driving new business. Te new LINK and SHIFT products from Corsair being a fantastic example, that saw people keen to upgrade to the latest and greatest technology.
Can you discuss the role of partnerships and collaborations? Our entire business model is founded on good partnerships. We recognise that with both vendor and reseller success is symbiotic. We are key to one another’s success. We’re very fortunate to have a team across sales and purchasing who boast an average length of service of nearly nine years. That’s pretty rare across any business sector and the long-standing relationships that exist as a result of that are a key factor in our success. In both teams there are relationships founded on trust that has been built up over a long period of time. I know most senior figures will say their staff are the best around but I genuinely believe that the staff we have here offer unparalleled levels of experience and talent and it’s a message regularly affirmed when I speak to our customers and manufacturers.
