News Lenovo unveils STEM-based initiative to turn waste into

educational wonder LENOVO has introduced its #Waste2Wonder program, a school project based on hands-on experience, where unboxing a Lenovo device becomes a journey of discovery into STEM subjects. Imagine a student opening a Lenovo device and finding more than just hardware, but an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of how electronic devices are made. A quick scan of a QR code sets them on a path of exploration, they are directed to cut along the lines on the internal packaging to create an educational tool which teaches students about electric circuits and forces – both of which are integral within the STEM curriculum. The aim of the project is to uncover a unique, seamless blend of sustainability and STEM development. The packaging is designed with educational requirements in mind, ensuring it doesn’t end up in landfill but becomes a valuable resource for educational adventures.

The initiative is custom-tailored for teachers, schools and parents with children up to the age of 16. Introducing STEM concepts at a young age can instil a love for learning and curiosity about the world. It encourages lifelong learning and adaptability in an ever-changing job market.

Manuela Lavezzari, EMEA education marketing director at Lenovo, said: “We have a firm commitment to enhancing technology access in schools and raising awareness about environmental and social issues. This initiative exemplifies the power of collective intelligence and dedication to fostering innovative solutions, serving as a model for ESG efforts. It all began with a roundtable discussion involving education resellers a year ago. We brought together experts in STEM pedagogy, the environment, packaging, design, and more to make it a reality.”

Brigantia’s annual partner conference reaches new heights

ON THURSDAY 12 OCTOBER, leading cyber security distributor Brigantia held a record-breaking annual partner conference. More than 180 people attended, exceeding the turnout for any previous Brigantia conference. This is testament to the growth of Brigantia, which has established itself as one of the leading voices in cybersecurity. Heading up to Level 39 of One Canada Square, Canary Wharf, the attendees were treated to spectacular views across London, as well as the opportunity to hear from a selection of vendors, experts and keynote speakers including BBC journalist and author Geoff White.

The day was the perfect networking opportunity for Brigantia’s partners as well as the chance to learn about unique services and solutions to bolster their portfolios. Brigantia has created a community of partners and vendors like no other distributor. This was clear to see on the day, with the event space full and a wide variety of presentations on offer across the day.

Engaging and insightful presentations tackled prevalent cybersecurity issues facing modern businesses, offering up the latest and most innovative solutions for MSPs. One of the most hotly anticipated talks was that of BBC

journalist Geoff White, who is perhaps best known for his book The Lazarus Heist, which later became a hit podcast. Other speakers included Morten Kjaersgaard, CEO of Europe’s fastest-growing cybersecurity vendor, Heimdal. Across the day, nine of Brigantia’s vendors shared valuable insights into their security solutions, with attendees discovering everything from Microsoft 365 security to navigating threats with confidence.

10 | November/December 2023 The speakers included representatives from Conceal,

Keeper, Octiga, Heimdal, Rootshell, CyberSmart, ITagree, Parallels, and KnowBe4.

As well as explicitly cybersecurity-themed content, there was also a session from sales leader and consultant Rick Wilkinson to offer selling advice to MSPs. Sales director, Angus Shaw commented on the outcome of the day: “Bringing together this many partners and vendors for a day is the perfect opportunity to showcase the support, solutions, and community we have. The response had been fantastic, with a record attendance in an outstanding venue, and we couldn’t have hoped for anything better. “We carry out events like this not only to provide opportunities to our partners, but also to meet in person and stay up to date on the current cybersecurity challenges. I’m already looking forward to the next one!”
