Networking & Cyber Security
What is your role within the company? I joined Cradlepoint as Director of MSP/SSP (Managed Service Partners/ Solution Service Providers). I am focused on forging relationships with these businesses based around Cradlepoint’s NetCloud service and purpose-built 4G and 5G routers for a range of use cases.
What features of Cradlepoint’s offering do you think MSP and SSP’s should know about? Firstly, we need to educate the market on the benefits of 4G and 5G wireless connectivity. For example, they can provide greater network reach, reliability and agility than wired broadband. Tis enables businesses to expand IoT projects and in-vehicle networks to share information with central servers. Cradlepoint has such a strong offering, and I do not doubt that we will be able to emulate the success of the US programme here in EMEA.
What drove your decision to move to Cradlepoint? Troughout my career, I have seen the value that cellular networks can bring to enterprises, most recently with the arrival of 5G. Cradlepoint is also one of the pioneers of this technology, and I knew I wanted to be leading the way with this new technology rather than playing catch up. Similarly, I firmly believe that Cradlepoint can help MSP and SSP’s supply businesses with the services they need to thrive in this new world of hybrid work.
What do you think MSP’s need to be aware of as businesses transition into hybrid working? Some in the industry believe that workers will go back to operating as they did before the pandemic. I believe this is not going to happen. Workers, and most business leaders, have seen the benefits that flexible working can bring - allowing them to access talent no matter where it is located. Similarly, as we embark on industry 4.0,
the need for increased bandwidth to keep up with data coming from IoT devices in remote locations will mean they need to offer a more robust and flexible network to keep up with this demand. Businesses will need devices that can seamlessly pick up communication across different cellular networks.
How can 5G connectivity help businesses become more flexible? Firstly, due to the wireless nature of 5G networks, it is much easier to deploy these networks in different locations. It only requires a business to plug in a router, and they are good to go. Businesses like retail stores can create pop-up shops with their own secure networks anywhere, expanding their potential reach and connecting with customers where they are. 5G networks also offer greater speed than most home broadbands,
sometimes almost twice as fast. Tey can support high-quality video streaming, or handle a large amount of data, meaning information can be shared quickly with workers and customers promptly. Finally, our out of band management through the NetCloud
service allows IT teams to seamlessly update remote systems without needing to be on-site, reducing the time cost and improving the quality of the overall network.
“With the ubiquitous deployment of carrier aggregated 4G networks and rollout of 5G networks enabling cellular connectivity to provide better than broadband performance. Early adopter MSP and SSP’s are realising that Cellular can provide a robust connectivity alternative in their portfolio, which allows them to generate new revenue streams previously closed off to them.
This will create a momentum in the market where Cellular connectivity becomes more and more core to their offerings in 2022. Cradlepoint with its enhanced management, performance and critically, built-in security capabilities right to the edge will be a key enabler of this for enterprise.”
