Sector Guide Brother UK unveils new range of pocket-sized A4 printers

Brother UK has launched a new series of pocket-sized mobile A4 printers. The new PJ800 series includes five models – PJ- 822, PJ-823, PJ-862, PJ-863 and PJ-883. Field operators use mobile print devices to instantly create documents on-site, from contracts and invoices to medical prescriptions and gas safety certificates, which will help them to save time by not needing to follow up by email or post out physical documents. The launch replaces the PJ700 and delivers faster print speeds of up to 13.5 pages per minute, as well as an enhanced battery performance that can print 600 pages from just one charge.

Users can quickly send print requests from any device for fast, accurate printing via the latest connectivity options – USB Type C, Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi – and Brother’s iPrint & Scan app, which is compatible with Windows, Android and Apple smartphones. The printers use direct thermal technology, rather than ink, which removes the need to change cartridges on the move, meaning the only consumable required is the paper. The image quality of up to 300 dpi ensures the machines also meet the high standards required in many industries, such as healthcare. The mobile printers are rated IP54 when equipped with a roll case, meaning they can withstand tough environments in all weathers. Additionally, the printer is tested to withstand drops of up to 1.2m.

Kyocera expands ECOSYS range with four new printers

Kyocera UK has expanded its printer portfolio with four new printers from its ECOSYS range: the PA4500x, PA5000x, PA5500x & PA6000x. The PA6000x series are Kyocera’s first printers to be supplied carbon-neutral as standard and follows on from the company launching its carbon-neutral printers and MFPs, and carbon-neutral managed print services late last year. The updated range of printers incorporate a variety of new features, including a new controller to improve performance and enhanced security capabilities such as SIEM threat detection, auto certificate management and trusted platform module authentication procedures. These are on par with Kyocera’s high-end TASKalfa 3554ci series. Kyocera will offset the carbon of every device sold in the PA6000x series plus the consumables they use over the printer’s standard-rated lifetime. Kyocera closes the loop with its eco-conscious toner and device recycling programmes. The PA6000x series targets busy workgroups providing dependable features, including 1200dpi quality, duplex printing, a standard 500 sheet paper tray and a total paper input capacity that can be expandable up to 2,600 sheets from 6 paper sources. Print speeds range from 45 to 60 pages per minute. Other new features include a choice of wireless interfaces and mobile print options providing flexibility for customers to choose Wi-Fi printing capabilities to suit their office or agile printing needs.
