OPINION Adapt or Die! by Dominic Langan I
t was Charles Darwin who famously said that survival belongs not to the strongest or the most intelligent, but to those most responsive to change. It’s a principle that resonates just as
powerfully in business as it does in nature and in our cycling industry, perhaps more so than ever. Over the past few years, we’ve all experienced seismic shifts in the way we live, work, and shop. The bicycle industry has
been through extraordinary highs and equally testing lows. From the pandemic boom to the inventory hangovers and economic tightening that followed, it’s been a reminder that nothing stays still for long. What worked yesterday may no longer work today. Whether you’re a brand, distributor, or retailer, one truth remains constant: adaptation is survival. And yet, too many of us are still yearning for the comfort of “how things used to be.”
